The Friends have. invited ten local artists to open their studios that day for tours between the hours of 11 A~ and 3 PM. From award.-winning Harvey Hel]sr~ng's photography studio in Riverhead, to an exhibition of glass-blowing at Boar Glass s%udios in Greenport, and eight other artists and craftsmen in- between, there will be many expressions of art to excite end delight the senses. Following the s~udio tours, wine, cool drinks, and light refreshments {all included in the price of the tickets) will be served from 4 to 6 PM in an exquisite private garden on East Hill Road in Hattituck. Strolling amid exotic flowers, shrubs, and trees, tlcke~ p~.~rchas~rs will view an exhibition of over twenty- five artists' works in various media: oils, watercolors, pastels, sculpgure, woodcraft, glass, and ceramics. Charlning outdoor nooks, ~uch as the Tiki Hut and the Knot Garden, provide an opportunity to listen to strolling musicians and perhaps to look over the program of exhibitors. Mr. Schrader ~ recently appeared on The Martha Stewart TV Show~ not only ~o discuss his book., but to explain how he and Smith transformed an abandoned farm into ti~e spectacular garden seen today. Additional!y~ raffle to be drawn some of the artists have donated prizes for a in the garden later in the afternoon of August loth. Their art work will be on d~splay at the Mattituck-Laure] Library wh~re raffle tickets may be p~rchased. Tickets for the gala are on sale now at the Library as well as at Bauer's Browserie on Love Lane, Mattituck, and are $23 for members of The Fr[ends, $27 for non-members {why not become a member before August loth!), and $30 on the day of the even~.
