Parking Fees
May 1, 2007
The Commission reviewed the parking issues raised in your March 15 memorandum at
its monthly meeting on April 23.
We fully concur on the placement of No Parking signs during school hours east of
C-reenpert High School (Oak and Maple Streets) and on Mary's Road near Mattituck
High School.
With respect to parking overflow in New Suffolk from Town beach and boat ramp on
local streets, this issue is not new to the Commission. The problem is caused by usage
levels of these facilities and lack of additional space in the area. Nevertheless, the Town
is in the process of going to bids for the reconstruction of the two parking areas. When
Finished, there will be 39 spaces in the parking adjacent to the beach and 10 stalls for
vehicles with trailers. This represents a 30% increase in parking accommodations and
should relieve the pressure on local streets when completed.
