Dear Mr, Bittner:
RE: NYS Route 25 and Griffing Street
Your September 20 letters to the NYS Department of Transportation and the
Town Board were reviewed by the Commission at its regular monthly meeting on
November 26.
Several years ago, the Commission was involved in discussing the safety of
egress and ingress on Griffing Street with the NYS Department of Transportation
personnel involved in the resurfacing of NYS Route 25. In the end, their decision
prevailed, resulting in the current configuration including the timing and direction
of contrel lights on Main and New Suffolk Road.
We continue to monitor the situation. To that end, we requested that the Town
Planning Board ensure that the on-going Envirenmental Impact Statement Study
(ELS) being prepared for the Heritage Project in Cutchogue include a full traffic
review of the Griffing Street situation.
The Commission will review the findings once the ElS Study is presented to the
Town and share the Griffing Street recommendations with you. Hopefully, these
will give us another timely opportunity to request that the Department reassess
the safety of this intersection expeditiously.
ly,
ha R. Brashich
