Dear Mr. L'Eplanttenier:
Our Design Group has finalized a table of tree planting and removal for our current Landscape Requirements
Contract, PIN 0806.78. As we agreed at our meeting on site August 5, 2003, we have coordinated this work
with our Design Plans for PIN 0041.91, Resurfacing Route 25 from Highland Road in Cutchogue to 6t~ Street
in Greenport. Some trees that were originally scheduled for removal and replacement in the Landscape
Requirements Contract, PIN 0806.78 have been placed in PIN 0041.91. Trees that are considered an
immediate hazard will be removed first. If there are any additional trees you believe should be removed this
fall please notify us. Only trees that were reviewed in August have been included in these projects.
We have circulated the Town's Draft Tree Removal Protocol to the various DOT groups that are likely to be
involved in tree removal and have requested that these groups contact you directly when trees require removal.
As we have discussed, ifa tree presents an immediate danger, it may not be possible to notify the Town prior
to its removal. Efforts will be made to replace trees where possible once they have been removed. The
Landscape Architecture Group will continue to work with the Town to coordinate replacements.
Attached is a copy of the tree removal table for the Landscape Requirements Contract, PIN 0806.78. We have
also prepared a table for tree planting that is not associated with removals. The Contractor has indicated that
all work associated with this contract will be completed before the end of the year. We appreciate the efforts
the Southold Tree Committee, the Southold Transportation Comrmttee and you have made to move this work
forward. Planning for the removal and replacement of trees that are in poor condition will ensure the safety
of motorists, other highway users, adjoining property owners, and will also help us to maintain the tree lined
character of Route 25.
If you have any other questions or comments please contact me at (631) 952-1468.
Very tmly.7ours,
