AN ACT ?
to amend the town law, in relation to the regulation of hunting
and discharge of firearms in the towns of Southold and Shelter
Island in the oounty of Suffolk
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and
Assembl~(, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Subd~ws~on twenty-seven nf section one hundred
2 thirty 0f the town law, as amended by chapter two hundred ninety-
3 two of the laws of nineteen hundred seventy-four, is hereby amended
4 to read as follows:
5 27. Firearms.. In the towns of Huntington, Babylon, Smithtown,
$ Islip, Brookhaven, Riverhead, Southhold, Shelter Island and
7 Southampton, in the county of Suffolk, in the town of Niskayuna in
8 the county of Schenectady, in the town of Ramapo in the county of
9 Rockland, in the ~owns of Greece, Pittsford, Brighton, Penfield and
10 Gates in the county of Monroe, and in the town of Vestal in the
11 county of Broome prohibiting the discharge of firearms in areas in

1 which such activity may be hazardous to the general public or nearby.
2 residents, and providing for the posting of such areas with signs
3 giving notice of such regulations, which o!'dinances, rules and
4 regulations may be more, but not less, restrictive than any other
5 provision of law. Thirty days prior to the adoption of any ordinance '
6 changing the five hundred foot rtile, a notice must be sent to the
7 regional supervisor of fish and game of the environmental eonserva-
8 tion department, notifying him of such intention.
9 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. ~
