THE ASSEMBLY
STATE OF NEW YORK

Ms. Judith T. Boken
Town Clerk
Southold, New York

Dear Ms. Boken:
I have received notification of two resolutions adopted by the
Southold Town Board regarding Assembly bills A-8418 and A-8558.
In case of A-8418, you will be pleased to know that it was not
released from the Real Property Tax Committee for final action
prior to adjournment. Unfortunately, A-8558, of which I am the
sponsor, was also held in Committee, despite my efforts to have
it reported out.
You may be interested to know that the Senate campanion to A-8558,
S-6476, was passed by the Senate with bi-partisan backing on June
18th. It was then treated as a partisan issue in the Assembly.
The Democratic Majority of the Assembly Environmental Committee
failed to consider the request of the Republican Minority to re-
lease the bill for floor action and in so doing, also ignored the
flood of mail received from all over the State in support of this
legislation. However, regardless of our lack of success this year,
you may be sure that next Session I will concentrate my efforts to-
wards preventing this type of arbitrary cutback from happening again.
I appreciated knowing of the action taken by the Town Board on these
bills. Best regards.
Sincerely,
PBD:sa
