Hoey 470 Town Harbor Terrace Southold, NY 11971 Re: Hippodrome Creek SCTM#66-1-37 Dear Mr. Hoey: As per your request, an inspection was made of Hippodrome Creek. The Southold Town Board of Trustees has agreed to grant you an Emergency Permit to hand-dig the opening of the creek and place the fill on the low area of the beach, above thc high-water mark. Please be advised that you must complete an application as soon as possible in order to be able to conduct these activities in the future. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to give our office a call. Very truly yours, Albert J. Krupski, Jr. President, Board of Trustees Statement from Maureen Ostermann, residing at 575 Orchard Road, Beixedon Estates, Southold Re: Hippodrome Pond My property, which has been in the family for over fifty years, fronts on Hippodrome Pond. In these later years, due to the shifting of sand along the community's beach from east to west, the opening into the Pond from the Bay has become blocked and no longer provides tidal flow. Residents living on or near the Pond's periphery are very concerned about the situation. The Pond is becoming stagnant and foul~smelling. This obviously will lead to a health hazard of a serious nature, not to mention a perfect breeding ground for mosquitos. I add my support to the request of those representing Beixedon Estates Association for approval and prompt action to open, between Beixedon to the east and the Daly property to the west, an egress from the Pond into Southold Bay. Thank you. Respectfully, April 25, 2001 4.0A(c)
