The events have been divided into three categories, which include Health Promotion, Presentations/Special Events and Staff Activities. Health Promotion 1. Blood Pressure Clinics on July 7 and July 29th. 2. Caregivers Support meeting on July 21~. 3. "Improving your Quality of Life with Better Hearing" presentation on July 10 by Dr. Prestano of Peconic Ear, Nose, Throat and Plastic Surgery. *See below 4. First Aid and Safety in your Home presentation to senior participants by Mattituck Fire Department EMT Audrey Watson on July 13th Presentation/Special Events 1. SCOFA Summer Festival Picnic at Southaven Park on July 21st attended by 10 seniors and 3 Staff members. 2. Exercise Class Presentations on July 23~a and July 28th promoting resistant training, Tai Chi and Qi Gong classes. Staff Activities 1. Program Staff members attended monthly Health Care Issues and Services for Seniors Committee Meeting on July 29th. 2. Two youth interns from Suffolk County's Summer Works Program began working at HRC on July 6th assisting seniors with signing in scanning ID cards, shopping and translating HRC, Katinka House and Residential Repair Program brochures into Spanish. The weekly computer class, weekly movie and WII bowling was offered throughout the month of July. In addition several seniors have expressed a desire to attend a weekly Tai Chi & Qi Gong class. *Also quarterly hearing tests will be provided in the community resource room free of charge by an audiologist from Peconic Ear, Nose, Throat & Plastic Surgery beginning September 1st, 2009.
