Dear Southold Town Board of Trustees,
This letter to you is to clarify in my own mind what was discussed dudng the field
inspection that you conducted on January 16, 2002 at Osprey's Dominion Vineyards and
the adjoining property to the east on Main Road. The four issues that come to mind are
the following:
1 ) The demolition and removal of the building on the adjoining property
2) The removal of all the debris that has been placed in the pond/run off area
3) The erection of an outbuilding for storage of farm equipment that would be
situated on Osprey's Dominion Property which backs up to the adjoining
4)
The erection of a glass observatory which would primarily serve as a bench
grafting/cutting station where the public would be able to observe the vadous
varieties of Vitis vinifera grapevines and their native American rootstocks in the
propagation process. I know that I disclosed a general location during the
inspection and have since called for a survey to establish an exact location for
you to see.
Upon conclusion of the inspection, it's my understanding that these initial
proposals did not meet with any major objections from your group. It seems that
what I would like to accomplish does not infdnge on the Wetlands regulations of the
Town.
I am still unclear as to what New York State may or may not require. Therefore, I
would respectfully request your agency's assistance in moving this process forward
and ask for your direction if I have left a piece of the puzzle out. My intent is to
effect the changes to the adjoining property as smoothly and expeditiously as
possible by keeping informed of all the requirements as they unfold. I would like to
thank you once again for the Field Inspection and am looking forward to your
response.

The Southold Town Board of Trustees reviewed the site plan dated April 18, 2002 and
last revised August 23, 2002 and determined the proposed storage building to be out of
the Wetland jurisdiction under Chapter 97 of the Town Wetland Code.
However, any activity within 100' of a Wetland line would require permits from this
office.
This determination is not a determination from any other agency.
