Monthly Report

· On going trail maintenance on Laurel Lake, Downs Farm,
Arshamomaque, Arshamomaque Pond, Dam Pond and Mill
Road Preserves.
· Started the Deer Management Program (12/5 to 12/31/08) We
will be sending out a questionnaire, in January 2009, to the
participants in the program so that we can evaluate, improve
and expand the 2009 program.
· Attended a meeting with the contactor that has the Suffolk
County Contract for dredging, in reference to dredging
Goldsmith Inlet in January 2009.
· Attended several meetings in reference to the Peconic School
Building renovation.
· Started the installation of the irrigation lines for Strawberry
Fields Fairgrounds.
· Made improvements to the parking lot at Cochran Park, with
500 cubic yards of RCA blend.
· Meeting with Carl Pfeifer, SCWA, in reference to a proposed
water main at the Laurel Lake Preserve. (This proposal was not
approved by the Town Attorney's Office)
· Attended a meeting of the Recreation Committee.
· Installed a new playground structure with benches at the Old
School House Park, East Marion. This project was funded by a
grant from the Community Development Block Grant Program.
· Installed weather strips on Town Hall doors.
· Installed a new condenser for the AC unit that maintains the air
temperature in the Data Processing Center, at Town Hall.
· Installed a new air conditioning unit at the Southold Police
Department.
· Started the renovations (painting & spackling) at the Southold
Recreation Center. New ceiling tiles and lighting are scheduled
for January 2009.
· Attended two, on site, meetings with the contractor that
completed the Suffolk County drainage project in front of
Kenny's Beach to discuss paving of the parking lot and beach
grass planting. The contractor agree to resurface the parking
lot in the construction zone and purchase 16,000 beach grass
plugs, for planting by DPW this spring.
· Attended a meeting of the Suffolk County Aquaculture Leasing
Committee.
· Completed renovations to the DPW trailer as per NYS
Department of Labor "Notice of Violations".
