RECREATION DEPARTMENT
MONTHLY REPORT: MARCH 2009
Please excuse the tardiness and brevity of this report. While the report is
brief, please don't take that to mean that we have not been busy. It has been
extremely busy here at the recreation department and I put the monthly
reports on the back burner for a while. Future reports (beginning with the
month of May) will be on time and more in depth.
NEW YORK STATE YOUNG BOATER'S COURSE: came to a conclusion
on Thursday, March 26. We had 24 resident youth participate in this program.
The adult boating course will start on Thursday, April 23...we currently have 14
people registered.
SPRING 2009 RECREATION BROCHURE: was an insert in the ThursdaY,
March 5 edition of The Suffolk Times. Registration has been going strong and
steady all month long.
2009 BEACH/SUMMER SEASON: Preparations are underway to ensure
adequate coverage for all six of our town beaches this summer. Applications
were mailed out to last year's beach attendants, beach managers, lifeguards,
playground instructors, and swimming instructors.
