Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971 TOWN OF SOUTHOLD DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS Monthly Report Date: April 2009 On going trail maintenance on Laurel Lake, Downs Farm, Arshamomaque, Arshamomaque Pond, Dam Pond and Mill Road Preserves. · Attended several meetings with McLean Associates, in reference to the Peconic School Building renovation & bid package. · Attended a meeting of the Suffolk County Aquaculture Committee. · Attended several meetings with Melissa Spiro and Scott Hilary on developing Management & Stewardship Plans, as per the requirements of the new Community Land Preservation legislation. · Attended a meeting with the Collegiate Baseball League, in reference to Cochran Park Baseball Field. · Attended several meeting of the Stormwater Committee · Attended a coordination meeting of Department's with LWRP Grants. · Attended several meetings in reference to the Animal Shelter, in reference to work to be done by DPW at the completion of construction of the facility. · Constructed a wooden walkway at the end of Bay Avenue, East Marion, to replace the stone walkway that was washed away by storms. · Removed old boats and debris from the Narrow River Road Parking lot and Boat ramp, at the request of the Trustees and Bay Constable. · Replaced a large number of broken steps at Horton's Point. · Installed "No ATV" signs on the North Bayview Preserve, due to complaints from neighbors. · Turned on water for the season at all Town beaches and the two information booths. Preparing the contract documents for the Bittner Preserve Grant with NYS Department of State. · Prepared bid specifications for the Bittner Preserve Grant, in reference to removal of the house, pool and bulkhead. · Prepared and sent the 2009 Youth Services Grant contracts to Suffolk County Youth Bureau. · Site inspections of the demolition and removal of debris at the Laurel Lake Preserve. All work should be completed by May 11, 2009. Scott Corwin and crew have done an excellent job. · Meeting with Assistant Town Attorney and Land Preservation Office on the SCWA Easement at the Laurel Lake Preserve. · Attended the opening day of Little League at Robert Tasker Park. · Attended a meeting with Peconic Land Trust, in reference to the deer management program. · Attended the Youth Service Day Program at the Charnews Farm, with the Peconic Land Trust. · Attended a Loss Control Workshop.
