We will be asking the Town Board if it wishes to place these items on the Agenda. KMC/Ik Enclosures cc: Ms. Elizabeth Neville, Town Clerk (w/encls.) ~ FOR RESOLUTION June , 2005 V- WHEREAS, there has been presented to the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, on the __th day of June, 20054 a Local Law entitled "A Local Law in relation to Parking at the Road End Area on Skunk Lane" now, therefore, be it RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Southold will hold a public hearing on the aforesaid Local Law at the Southold Town Hall, 53095 Main Road, Southold, New York, on the th of June, 2005 at p.m. at which time all interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard. The proposed Local Law entitled, "A Local Law in relation to Parking at the Road End Area on Skunk Lane" reads as follows: LOCAL LAW NO. 2004 A Local Law entitled, "A Local Law in relation to Parking at the Road End Area on Skunk Lane". BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Southold as follows: I. Purpose - In order to restrict and regulate the use of the road end area of Skunk Lane in Cutchogue, it is necessary to increase the no parking area from 150 feet to 250 feet. II. Code Amendment. Chapter 92 of the Code of the Town of Southold is hereby amended as follows: § 92-42. Parking prohibited during certain hours. A. The parking of vehicles is hereby prohibited between the hours indicated in any of the following locations: Name of Street Side Between the Hours of Location Skunk Lane Both 10 p.m In Cutchogue, from Peconic Bay and 6 a.m westerly for a distance of 150 250 feet IlL SEVERABILITY If any clause, sentence, paragraph, section, or part of this Local Law shall be adjudged by any court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, the judgment shall not affect the validity of this law as a whole or any part thereof other than the part so decided to be unconstitutional or invalid. EFFECTIVE DATE This Local Law shall take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State as provided by law. Harris C(~)~, Superintendent of Highways May 23, 2005 Amendments to No Parking Section of the Town Code The reason for the request for a change in the "No Parking" section of The Town Code (i.e., Skunk Lane and Parkers Landing Road ), is because there is a person who is currently using these locations as their living location out o£their car. These areas were not meant to be used as such. I believe that by making the appropriate changes to the code, it will protect the residents of the surrounding areas in question. cc: Patricia A. From- NO-PARKING on Skunk Lane on both sides of the street from 10:00 pm To 6:00 am in Cutchogue from Peconic Bay westerly for a distance of 150 feet. To- NO-PARKiNG on Skunk Lane on both sides of the street from 10:00 pm To 6:00 am in Cutchogue from Peconic Bay ~vesterly for a distance of 250 feet. PETER W.
