The design loads used in our analysis were 45 pounds per square foot (psi) ground snow load and 120 mph wind loads and standard frame construction dead loads. Based on our analysis, the Roof Structural System of the premises, consisting of 2" by 6" timber rafters @ 16" spacing of the donner roof, are adequate to support the proposed Solar Panel System and the NY State mandated design loads. The Solar Panel System must be attached to the rafters (which support the roof shingles and sheathing) by sealed 3/8" diameter by 2" long lag bolts, which shall transfer the solar panel system wind and dead load components directly to the timber roof frame of the residence and the interior and exterior load bearing walls and eventually to the foundation and foundation anchoring system.
