A Special Meeting of the Southold Town Board was held Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Conference
Room, 53095 Main Road, Southold, NY. Supervisor Russell opened the meeting at 3:00 PM
with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

maximum of 25 vehicles, upon payment of the required $75.00 fee and a $250.00 clean-up
deposit and provided they file with the Town Clerk a One Million Dollar Certificate of Insurance
naming the Town of Southold as an additional insured

Beachon June 13-14, 2009
, for the Instructor Safe Powerboat Handling Course, provided they
file with the Town Clerk a One Million Dollar Certificate of Insurance naming the Town of
Southold as an additional insured and provided the cars are displaying a special Southold Yacht
Club Parking Permit and the yacht club contact Captain Martin Flatley of the Southold Police
Department immediately for proper placement of the permits.

Opposition to IR 1458-2009
WHEREAS
, the Town of Southold and Suffolk County have made a multimillion dollar, long term
commitment to the protection of drinking water, farmland and open space within the Town; and
WHEREAS
, as part of these program, the people of the Town have approved in multiple referenda
over several decades, municipal bonding, real estate transfer taxes and County sales taxes to support
these programs; and
WHEREAS
, most recently, in November of 2007, the people of Suffolk County,
including voters within the Town of Southold approved the extension of the County
Drinking Water Protection Program to continue County funding of open space and farmland
protection programs until 2030; and
WHEREAS
, the Town Board of the Town of Southold and the Suffolk County
Legislature and Executive have identified and listed thousands of additional acres of high priority
farmland and open space within the Town which still need protection; and
WHEREAS
, during the recent economic downturn, the availability f County Drinking Water

Protection Program funding to partner with Town to continue these critical acquisitions and take
advantage of opportunities that will likely never be available again is even more essential; and
WHEREAS
, The Town Board recognizes the purpose of 1R Program's Open Space and farmland
fund to the County's General Funds, for general County expenses, for the years 2010, 2011 and
2012; and
WHEREAS
, The Town Board finds that IR 1458-2009 will significantly diminish funding for the
Town and the County's necessary partnerships to acquire open space and farmland in a meaningful
and timely way; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED
, that the Town Board of the Town of Southold hereby goes on
record as opposing IR 1458-2009, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED
, that the Town Board of the Town of Southold
requests that the Town Clerk forward this resolution to the Suffolk County Executive and the
Suffolk County Legislature.
