Following the proposed construction, the single family dwelling will have a single side yard setback of 8.2 feet and a total side yard setback of 16.10 feet. Total lot coverage will be 24 percent. In addition, the proposed construction is not permitted pursuant to Article XXII Section 280-116 B, which states; "All buildings located on lots upon which a bulkhead, concrete wall, riprap or similar structure exists and which are adiacent to tidal water bodies other than sounds shall be set back not less than seventy-five (75) feet from the bulkhead." The proposed construction notes a proposed setback of +/- 26 feet from the existing bulkhead This Notice of Disapproval was issued based on a survey by John Metzger, LS, dated October 17, 2007. Thermal Imaging Cameras Video - A daylong class on thermal imaging for fire ground operations was held during the 102nd New York State Association of Fire Chiefs Annual Convention and Expo. The session, which was held in both classroom and mock field settiugs, was used to in- struct firefighters across New York State on how to properly utilize the newest ther- mal imaging technology. Fire Academy Training Building Dedication On October 23rd, Secretary of State Lorraine Cort{Ss-Vgzquez and State Fire Administrator Floyd Madison spoke at the ribbon~ cutting of the new state-of-the-art New York State Fire Training Complex at the State Fire Academy, in Montour Falls. The cer- emony capped a $2.2 ~nillion project undertaken by the Depart- ment of State, one of two in the nation. "This new facility, which will significantly improve the quality of training for firefighters and arson investigators underscores Governor Spitzer's commitment to emergency services and home- land security," Secretary Cortes-Vazquez said during tbe ceremony. "A well-trained firefighter can minimize the risk he or she faces." The complex includes a three-and-one-half story Fire Training Burn Tower and a one-and-a-half story Fire/Arson Investigation Training Building. The fire training building wilI be used to train firefighters in search-and-rescue and proper extinguishing tech- niques. The tower contains a four-story stair tower, a roof with anchors for teaching rope rescue operations, and two floors with multiple rooms that will be used tbr live fire evolutions. "Good training and modern technology are absolutely essential in today's world of firefighting," State Fire Administrator Floyd Madison said. "Firefighters will benefit fcom this complex and law enforcement will improve its capacity to detect arson and pros- ecute those who commit it.
