Request for Wetland Permit for Noank Aquaculture Cooperative

NOANK AQUACULTURE COOPERATIVE requests a Wetland Pemfit to install
aquaculture gear; deploy four (4) additional FLUPSY's on the aquaculture dock for
nursery cultivation of shellfish seed, and floating bags and cages off of the aquaculture
dock, for the growout of shellfish seed; place cages and racks with trays in the renovated
shellfish barn to cultivate shellfish seed and to hold market shellfish for winter harvest;
and add two additional land-based upweller tanks 4'X 12' in the shellfish barn. Located:
10273 North Bayview Rd., Southold. SCTM#79-5-20.12
The proposed action has been reviewed to Chapter 268, Waterfront Consistency Review
of the Town of Southold Town Code and the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program
(LWRP) Policy Standards. Based upon the information provided on the LWRP
Consistency Assessment Form submitted to this department, as ~vell as the records
available to me, it is my recommendation that the proposed action is CONSISTENT
with the below Policy Standards and therefore is CONSISTENT with the LWRP.
Pursuant to Chapter 268, the Board of Trustees shall consider this recommendation in
preparing its written determination regarding the consistency of the proposed action.

Examples of Aquaculture Gear to be used offof Aquaculture Dock and in Shellfish Barn
A) Shellfish Storage Rack - can hold trays of shellfish or ADPI plastic mesh bags.
Will be used in Shellfish Barn only
B) Rack and Tray system - Metal frtune built to hold stacks of trays. Will be used in
Shellfish Barn only.
C) Cage holding Bays - Coated wire mesh cage built hold ADPI bags. Cages can be
2 feet wide to hold 4 bags or 4 feet wide to hold 8 bags. 2 foot wide cages will be
used off of Aquaculture Dock and 4 foot wide cages will be used in Shellfish
Barn.
D) Floating Bag - Plastic mesh ADPI bags. These bags have floats attached to either
side with heavy duty cable ties. They will be floated off of the Aquaculture Dock.
