It was seconded by Dick Ryan and all were in favor. The committee wants to go on record thanking the various environmental groups who were instrumental in getting the farmland bond issue passed. Regarding the Hiram Moody property on Fishers Island, Art has been trying to reach some of the officers and directors of FIDCO in an effort to clarify the status of the privately controlled road. Art will also discuss this with Matt Kiernan, the Assistant Town Attorney. The committee discussed the LaColla property. Art will contact Charles Cuddy, the attorney representing the LaColla Estate and try to clarify the committee's position. Timothy Coffey property - Gerry Dennehy said that Mr. Coffey submitted his application to the Farmland Preservation Committee in October 1990. At 'that time Gerry gave him a ball park figure of approximately $8000 to $10,000 per acre for development rights. When the appraisal came in, it was for $9000 per acre for farmland development rights. The County recently shows a pattern of paying $9000 to $12,000 per acre. Dick Ryan said that in perusing the appraisal, there is a right-of-way to Richmond Creek on this property, which perhaps wasn't taken into account in the appraisal. Art asked Gerry to contact Andy Stype regarding this possibility. Land Preservation Committee Meeting - December 11, 1991 (Cont'd) -2- Regarding Herbert Cassidy's property, Albertson Lane, Greenport - Mr. Cassidy spoke to Bud Cybulski. It is considered by Mr. Cassidy to be productive farmland. They have been farming hay. The property is on the southside of Albertson Lane. It runs back to the railroad right-of-way and Arshamomaque Creek and consists of 49.7 acres. It is the kind of property that wouldn't be developed easily. Art will speak to Mr. Cassidy. This property is still under review. The committee decided to remove the Bernard Kaplan property from the active file. Robert Celentano property - This property is to be taken out of the active file, as the owner is in the process of building a house. Regarding the Sledjeski farm in Orient, we await their formal application. The committee discussed the Frank McGuire property. There appears to be refuse material on this property. It is adiacent to Bedell Vineyards. It is not being farmed nor is it "scenic" open space. The committee cannot give this property favorable consideration at this time. Sanford Hanauer submitted his property again. He is a professional architect and builder. This property is not readily accessible. Art will contact him. Chester, Parker and Betsey Dickerson submitted an application for 2 parcels on Youngs Avenue in Southold. Art asked Dick Ryan to contact the Dickersons to get more information and to find out if it is presently being farmed. Art thanked Ruth Oliva for her many contributions to the committee. With no further business to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 1992 at 7:30 Respectfully submitted, Joyce M. Wi~lkins, Secretary Land Preservation Committee
