DRAINAGE CALCULATION
Q = CIA
WHERE Q IS THE VOLUME OF RUNOFF IN CUBIC FEET PER SECOND
C IS THE SURFACE COEFFICIENT
( IN THIS CASE, .95 FOR PAVEMENT)
IS RAINFALL INTENSITY WHICH FOR THE 10 YEAR STORM
EVENT IS 2.00 INCHES PER HOUR (REFER TO NOAA RAINFALL
INTENSITY-FREQUENCY MAPS)
A IS AREA OF RUNOFF PRODUCING SURFACE IN ACRES ( IN THIS
CASE, .0069 SINCE THE PARKING AREA OF 300 SQUARE FEET
CONVERTS TO THAT VALUE WHEN CONVERTING SQUARE
FEET TO ACRES)
SO,
Q = .95 X 2.00 X .069 = .013 CUBIC FEET PER SECOND
THEREFORE,
WITH RAIN ENDURING FOR ONE HOUR~ 360 GALLONS WILL ACCUMULATE.
