FOR DISCUSSION February 2, 1993 HOW DOES THE TOWN BOARD WISH TO HANDLE THE DOUGLASS HOUSE TRAILER MATTER? The trailer is gutted and is presently surrounded with pieces of machinery; boats etc. and completely inaccessible. I was assured in 1991 that it would be removed from theproperty in three weeks time, but it never happened. Regardless, in its present condition it could not be inhabited. It would be the Town Boards pleasure whether they would require it be physically removed. VGL:gar FILE: Building Dept. - Town + Trailer Permits, Pending, Douglas, Robert EstateJ JUDITH T. TOWN BOARD, TOWN OF SOUTHOLD ........ ............ " WILLOW TERRACE FARM orient, NY June 3, 1988 Supervisor, Frank Murphy and Town Board Members Main Ro~d Southold, NY Dear Town Board Memk~rs: This letter is to explain the need for a permit for what I have applied for. Under the treatment at the Peconic Center in Riverhead, My daughter Sara cannot work, and without work she has no in- come, so she cannot afford a place to live. My daughters doctor said that the animals in which I have on my farm is very good therapy for her in which she needs. In the past my horse farm has had problems with people coming in saddling, the horses, poisoned one horse, and a theft of two horsesl in which they were caught by me. and in me catching the person, he took a hammer and beaten me with it. This is all on police blotter. Even with locks on the gaits we still have problems with people coming in on my property near the horse coral. Do to my physical illness, I cannot maintain and feed my horses, so I need my daughter to do it, because she is the only one that can possibly do the job. W~en I am able to do the work in the near future I would like to put a security alarm system on the farm, but that doesn't always work. Where the horse coral is, people can see it on all the side roads 6n King Street and there isn't any woods to hide the coral, and protect it from outsiders. People walk or drive in on the property, walk in the corals or over to the horses and do what ever pleases them. I even put up signs, saying keep out private property, but people just ignore them like they weren't even there. It got to the point were I even have dogs, but that doesn't stop them. In the past I have had over 500 gallons of fuel and gas taken out of my machines ,all this will be protected by Sara as a watchman for my enterprises. There are no other housing facilities on this property, and have no finacial means of creating one. Therefore this is the only way of an affordable housing for my daughter. Under the treatment at the Peconic Center in Riverhead, My daughter Sara cannot work, and without work she has no in- come, so she cannot afford a place to live. My daughters doctor said that the animals in which I have on my farm is very good therapy for her in which she needs. In the past my horse farm has had problems with people coming in saddling, the horses, poisoned one horse, and a theft of two horses~ in which they were caught by me. and in me catching the person, he took a hammer and beaten me with it. This is all on police blotter. Even with locks on the gaits we still have problems with people coming in on my property near the horse coral. Do to my physical illness, I cannot maintain and feed my horses, so I need my daughter to do it, because she is the only one that can possibly do the job. When I am able to do the work in the near future I would like to put a security alarm system on the farm, but that doesn't always work. There are no other housinq facilities on this property, and have no finacial means of creating one. Therefore this is the only way of an affordable housing for my daughter. Thank you for your assistance. Respectfully yours, Robert J. Douglass TOWN OF SOUTHOLD TOWN CLERK'S OFFICE SOUTHOLD, N. Y. Application No .....................................
