HomeMy WebLinkAbout1000-12.-2-6.13I~E~IO TO FILE Re: Anne Pickett vs. Fishers Island Garbage & Refuse District Date: October 22, 2001 The material in this file pertains to property owned by Anne Pickett. The F.I. Garbage & Refuse District leased a portion of the property for the purpose of using it as a landfill. The District wishes to purchase the subject parcel. The District and Ms. Pickett currently are in arbitration in an attempt to arrive at a fair purchase price. There are environmental problems (landfill) and wetlands on this property. The Planning Board does not determine the potential yield of any property without going through an environmental review pursuant to SEQRA, thus were unable to respond to Mr. Nycamp's letter of July 18, 2001. On Monday, September 24th, at an arbitration hearing held in New London, Connecticut, I testified on behalf of the F.I. Garbage & Refuse District. My testimony dealt with the Planning Board review procedures and the Town Code. , /,..~ PLANNING BOARD MEMBERS BENNETT ORLOWSKI, JR. Chairman WILLIAM J. CREMERS KENNETH L. We have identified a couple of convenient methods of transportation for you. The first is the Cross Sound Ferry from Orient Point to New London, which Ed Reale and I will be taking. The ferry leaves at 9:00 a.m. from Orient Point and arrives in New London around 10:15 a.m. We anticipate that your participation will last at the most one tc one and a half hours in the morning. Therefore you could return on a i2:00 ferry 'which ~rrives back in Orient Point at approximately 1:15 p.m. We have also arranged f:r a private airplane which can fly you from Mattinuck ~o New London. We will then keep tlne plane on the ground in New London during your participation and then fly you back to Mantinuck. We will need to call them this morning to confirm. In furtherance of our application, I have enclosed a completed project information form. The reason for our request is that we are currently involved in an arbitration to determine the purchase price of this property which has recently been acquired by the Fishers Island Garbage and Refuse District. The major component in determining the fair market value of this property is a yield determination. We do not wish to subdivide the property, but merely would like to determine the fair market value of the property at our upcoming arbitration hearing. Therefore, we would appreciate it if the Board could issue a yield determination without requiring a complete subdivision application.
