a. This application MUST be completely filled in by typewriter or in ink and submitted to the Building Inspector with 4
sets of plans, accurate plot plan to scale. Fee according to schedule.
b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relationship to adjoining promises or public streets or
areas, and waterways.
c. The work covered by this application may not he commenced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issue a Building Permit to the applicant. Such a permit
shall be kept on the premises available for inspection throughout the work.
e. No building shall be occupied or used in whole or in part for any purpose what so ever until the Building Inspector
issues a Certificate of Occupancy.
f. Every building permit shall expire if the work authorized has not commenced within 12 months after the date of
issuance or has not been completed within 18 months from such date. If no zoning an~endments or other regulations affecting the
property have been enacted in the interim, the Building Inspector may authorize, in writing, the extension of the permit for an
addition six months. Thereafter, a new permit shall be required.

Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, Nexv York, and other applicable Laws, Ordinances or

1. Contracto~ work is to conform to all local ordinances and NYS Building and Energy Conservation
Code~ latest edition(s).
2. All Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC work shall be governed by all National, State and Local Codes,
latest edition(s).
3. Contractor to supply and install fire detection devices in altered area and carbon monoxide
dete~tors as par Suffolk County Sanitary Code "S76g-f 021".
4. Contractor(s) shall verify all field conditions and dimensions and will be responsible for same. Any
discrepancies shall be reported to the Architect immediately,

manuals when installing any prefabricated item(s).

19. All firestopping shall be of an approved non-combustible material and installed in accordance with
all applicable codes.
20. Exterior Wall insulation shall be 5-112" (R-21) Kraft-faced batts with vapor barrier facing warm side
of building. Ceiling/Roof insulation shall be 8-1/2" (R.30) or t8-1/4" (R-38} Kraft-faced butts as
shown on the drawings with vapor barrier facing warm side of building. Floor of altered area to
receive "R-MAX" rigid insulation board between s~eepers. Interior walls between altered area and
existing cottage shall receive 3-1/2" untaced sound deadening insulation.
21. All windows and doors to be insulated, "Low E', high performance, impact resistant glass, with
screens and operating hardware. Coastal Upgrade and stainless steel hardware suitable for a
marine climate is to be used on ali windows and doors?Contractor is to confirm operation, style,
finish, color and manufacturer with Owner prior to placing order.
22. All windows and exterior doors to have aluminum or wood drip caps and flashing.
23. All door hardware, butts and doorstops to be solid brass, Entry, lock & latchsete are to be Emtek or
Schlage "A' or "B' series, or approved equal. Style and finislt as directed by Owner.
24. Contractor to provide and instalt all interior and exterior trims to match existing, as called for on the
drawings & specifications or as otherwise directed by the Architect or Owner.
25, Contractor is to clean ail door and window glass, as well as leave all floors, walls and ceilings free
of debris immediately prior to final completion.

All doors with glazing and windows, to have insulated glass, thermal break, weather-stripping and be
flashed as required with a maximum "U" value of .40 (RIinimum "R" value of 2.5) and a maximum
infiltration rate of ,30 cfm per square foot.
All opaque exterior doors to be insulated, thermal break, weatherstripped and flashed as required with
a maximum "U" value of .39 (minimum "R' va{ue of 2.9) and a maximum infiltration rate of .50 cfm per
square foot.
HVAC equipment must conform to Section Nl103 of .he New York State Residential Code and/Dr
