Mattituck, Park District held in the office of the Veteran’s park building at 11280 Picnic
Bay Blvd, Mattituck, New York with Jerry Zuhoski, Chairman, Nicholas Deegan present
together with John Cushman, Treasurer, Betsy Perkins Secretary, Edward Grohoski,
Maintenance, Russ Williamson, Volunteer worker of the Park District, Gail Faircloth, and
other interested parties concerning the bid packages and scheduling.
Chairman Zuhoski called the meeting to order at 7:28 p.m
Attorney, Abigail Wickham made the following report:
Proposal from Land Use regarding property next to the Yacht Club; $1,500.00
retainer; approximately $7,500.00 plus application fees to NYS DEC, NYS Army
Corps of Engineers, NYS Dept. of State and Southold Town Board of Trustees. the
permits for DEC were good for 5 years and Trustees 18 months.
Chairman Zuhoski stated there was not enough money put aside and asked for
additional proposals for same; at least 2 more.
RE: Vets Beach; Land Use some revisions required; 1 foot above grade 8” dia.
Timber in middle to be removed Ed Grohoski cannot do, Still waiting the survey for
Love Lane
Nick Deegan asked how long the permit process would take? Gail Wickham stated
approximately 8 months for Vets. The Yacht Club isn’t started. It is hoped that
the Yacht Club would be completed by 2010, when they hold their anniversary
celebration.
John Cushman asked if the permits would be issued this year; Gail Wickham thought
yes. Some of the permits by April (Town). Gail Wickham will have a better idea by
the March meeting. Questioned if it was safe to put out to bid? Not yet.
Jerry Zuhoski asked Nick Deegan about the letters regarding grant money from the
County. Nick replied all letters in; Bishop’s letter to be sent this week.
On a motion made by Jerry Zuhoski, seconded by Nick Deegan and carried, the
Minutes of the January 10, 2008 meeting of the Commissioners were approved as
presented via email.
Jerry Zuhoski noted that Tom McCaffrey doing a great job with the Lighting
project. Nick Deegan asked if the lights were intense enough for baseball and it
was thought not. Later on more lights would be added.

Jerry Zuhoski stated that Southold Town has given the volleyball leagues to the
MPD to handle; Southold Town will bring in sand as needed.
Mike Ryan, President (present) of the North Fork Beach Volleyball requested the
following:
Monday evenings from 5/19/08-8/25/08 (5:30 – dusk) for leagues
Tentative tournament dates, (all day events held on weekends);

Saturday, 9/6/08 for 13 Annual NFBV Invitational tournament,
rain date 9/7/08
Would like to hold tournament to benefit Friends of Kim Haeg; no date yet.
Waiting on AVP, usually scheduled for end of August (i.e. 8/23/08)
Frank Palistino of Northsideout Beach Volley Ball League (not present), via letter
requested the following:
Wednesday evenings from 5/21/08-9/24/08 for leagues.
Tournament dates requested:
Saturday, 7/26/08 for CAST fund raiser; rain date 7/27/08
Saturday, 8/23/08 for end of the season tournament;
rain date 8/24/08
Saturday, 9/6/08 for end of season awards picnic and open play
(teams play against each other); rain date 9/7/08;
Only conflict is the Kim Haeg tournament which is usually held the same requested
weekend of Frank Palistino’s end of season tournament.
Discussion followed regarding the tournaments, their benefits, rules and regulations
at Breakwater, and scheduling. It was also suggested to revamp the rules and
regulations to ensure that the event did not get too carried away. Mike & Kathy
Ryan joined the meeting and did state that their dates were scheduled based on
Frank’s verbal requested dates, which are now different than the written request
received.

Jerry Zuhoski stated that Kim Haeg tournament is a long time, great event which
Kim herself attends and looks forward to. Nick Deegan suggested keeping the
dates the same whoever had them last year.
On a motion made by Jerry Zuhoski, seconded by Nick Deegan and carried, Mike
Ryan of North Fork Beach Volleyball, Inc., would be granted the date of his choice
for the tournament to benefit Friends of Kim Haeg, which would most probably be
7/26 with a rain date of 7/27 and the following dates would be granted to each
league by the secretary writing a letter to both North Fork Beach Volleyball, Inc.
and Northsideout Beach Volleyball League to confirm dates granted as follows:
North Fork Beach Volley ball, Inc. would be granted use on Monday evenings
from 5/19/08-8/25/08 (5:30 – dusk) for leagues;

If they wanted an end of season awards picnic, they could have it at
Vets Park on 9/3 when the season ends.
Ed Grohoski suggested buying volleyball net for Vets Park for own use; it was
discussed and decided against.
Discussion followed regarding the length of the volleyball season, which would be up
to the Commissioners to decide.
On a motion made by Jerry Zuhoski, seconded by Nick Deegan, MPD would enter into
an alarm service agreement with Lighthouse Security, Inc. at Baileys Beach
(scouters lodge).

Jerry Zuhoski then asked if anyone as contacted MPD to hold the annual Easter Egg
Hunt.
Discussion then followed regarding how much was allocated last year (approx.
$750.00); would Kim Prokop be up to doing it again; would Mattituck Lions donate
money; would Gerry Goerhinger run it; when would it be held since Easter was early
(3/23). Would it be on Palm Sunday, 3/16.
Ed Grohoski volunteered to ask Gerry Goerhinger to run it; get the prizes. Russ
Williamson also offered to help.
On a motion made by Jerry Zuhoski, seconded by Nick Deegan, and carried, the
amount of $1,000.00 would be allocated to the Annual East Egg Hunt.
The secretary will write letters to the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce,
Mattituck & Cutchogue Lions Club to donate money to the annual event.
Gail Faircloth report that complaints have been received about men showing
up at the Boy Scout lodge (to be items away) when the girls were there.
Gail asked if she could contact them to find out who has keys and ask them
to let us know when they will be going in there.
Discussion then followed about who had keys, who lost keys; does the Boy Scout
leader, Ed Forte have a key; if it is lost, it costs money to have duplicate
(medico keys)
Ed Grohoski gave his report (attached); also reported wet spots at Aldrich
Lane; may need extension for auger. The attendants booth; maybe the roof
can have an overhang for more shade.
General discussion followed regarding pipe; who is responsible; clogging at
Bayside; where is it going? Nick Deegan to contact Jill Doherty of Trustees
to inspect and advise.
On a motion made by Jerry Zuhoski, seconded by Nick Deegan and carried to
accept the Treasurer’s report and bill register, with the addition of John
Ehlers, Land Surveyor invoice of $1,750.00 bringing the total bill register to $12,
016.16. John Cushman questioned the Mattituck Sanitation invoice and will call them
before sending check.

There being no further business to come before the commissioners, a motion
was made by Jerry Zuhoski, seconded by Nick Deegan and carried to adjourn
the meeting.
The meeting was then adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
