The South0id Town Board met at the office of Supervisor S.
'Wentworth Horton, at Greenport, on Wednesday, Nov~ 14, 1945. The
meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following
present: Supervisor Horton; Justices Terry; Hawkins; Ktipp and
Case; Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and
Town Clerk Booth.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved
as-read.

the advertisement and posting, the Board adjourned to the
¥illage Hall to act on the matter of the petition to create a
Protection. Fife'District in Greenport in the area outside ef the
Village, Supervisor Horton opened the me~eting at
'and~read the call of the meeting, He called upon those pre-
sentmasking if any person would like to speak for er against the
petitiom. Harold Thornhill, Albert Matoechio, Sherwood Rouse
and responded in favor of the pe~i$ion. Claude
in behalf of Mrs. Grace Eobinson who was out of
being no further persons desiring to be heard on
the Supervisor Horton declared the hearing closed at

WHEREAS, there was duly presented to this To~ Board of the Town
~£'~$~Uthold, Suffolk County, New York, a written petition for
~he es~ablis~nt of a fire p~o~ection district to embrace the
situate in this Town and hereinafter described, and
that the said petition was duty signed an~
or proved by resident taxpayers owning ta~able real
at leas~ omo-half of the assessed valuation
of a~ the taxable real proper~y situate in such territory,
emme~ by resident taxpayers, as such valuations appear upon
latest completed assessment roll of the Said Town of SoUthold; and
a notice in'due form, containing a description of the
fire protection distric~ and specifying the time when and
p~ace where ~he Town Board would meet to consider the pet-
itio~ and to hear all persons interested in the-subjec~ con-
cerni.ng the same, was duly published and posted as required by
law, and
WB~.RE~, pursuant to such notice, a public hearing was duly held
by said To~n Board on the 14th day of No~ember, 1945, com~ncing
at 2:00 o'clock P.~., at ~Greenport, in the To~ of Southold,
SUffolk County, New York, being immediately adjacent to the limits
of the proposed fire pro~eetion district and
W//EPJEAS, all persons interested, who desired to be heard, were
duly hear~, and due deliberation having been had,
NOW, upon the evidence given at such public hearing and on motion
of Justice of the Peace Norman E. Klipp and seconded by Justice of
tke Peace Harry Terry, it is hereby
RESOLVED, pursuant to Article Elevem of the ~own Law of ~the State
of New York, that it is hereby determined that it is in the public
in~erea~ to grant in whole the relief sough~ by the pe$itiom afore-
said, and that it is in smch interest that there be and there~
hereby is established a fire protection district within the Town
of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, to be known as the EAST
AND WEST GREENPORT FIHE PROTECTION .DISTRICT and to be contained
im and embraced in the following boundaries, to wit:-
BEGINNING at a point on the southerly shore of Long Island Sound
at the northwesterly corner of land of Armaroy G~rporaticn and

nlng ~h~nce along said East Marion Fire District the following
courses. Southerly along said irmaroy Corporaiion; thence east-
erly along said Arm~roy Corporation; thence southerly along the

and it is further
R~0LVED, that this Board does hereby find and ~etermine that~all the
property, property owners and interested persons within tha proposed
district are benefited thereby, and that all property or property
ewmers benefited are included therein.
Move~ by Justice Terry, seconded by Justice Case:
Resolved: That the Receiver of Taxes he authorized to em~oy a Se~or
Clerk at a daily wage of $?~00 and a Junior Clerk a~ a daily wage of
$6.00.

The bonds for the Beceiver of Taxes for $50,000, written by the American
Sure~y Co. were presented to the Board.

Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting cf th~ Town Board
