Presently the right of way is boggy and the low areas have puddles after a rain. We would like to use a porous base approximately ten feet wide. This would enable the residents of Reydon Heights access to Corey Creek. Box 1787 Southold, NY 11971 Re: R.O.W. to COREY CREEK Dear Mr. Merkel, The Board of Trustees received your request for a Pre-Submission Inspection at the above referenced parcel on November 6, 2006, and met with you at the site on December 6, 2006. The Board recommends the following, in order to access Corey Creek from the Right of Way: 1. The area where you have proposed a pervious roadway for vehicle access is a tidal wetland, as define in Chapter 275, Wetlands and Shoreline, of the Town Code, under 275-2, Definitions. The vegetation in this area includes Salt hay grass (Spartina patens) and is a tidal marsh and flat area that is subject to tidal action. 2. The proposed roadway would fill in the tidal marsh, which is not allowed under Town Code. These tidal marshes are also protected by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. 3. The ROW allows access to Corey Creek by foot; small boats such as kayaks can be pulled by hand on wheels or carried across the tidal marsh to access the creek. 4. An administrative permit is required by the Trustees to clear/cut any wetland vegetation, including Phragmites, in any areas along the ROW to keep it clear for access. Please contact this office for any addition information. Enclosed is an application for an administrative permit.
