January 20, 1998
Attendees:
Venetia McKeigan - Human Resource Center
Karen McLaughlin - Human Resource Center
James Richter - Town Engineering Department
Bob Kasner - Town Planning Board
Michael Verity - Town Building Department
Chuck Dietz - Dietz & Associates, P.C.
James Richter stated that this property is exempt from formal Planning Board hearings
because it is town owned property.
On-site parking requirements and calculations have been waived because of the additional
parking lot across the street used by this facility on overflow occasions.
James Richter will prepare a Preliminary Site Plan addressing comments and suggestions
from his office and town officials. This will include the following:
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
New driveway entrance for MetLife's use.
Revised stripping plan.
New landscaping and site lighting.
Micro topping parking lot.
New water line on Pacific Street.
New septic tank and leeching field for MetLife's use.
It was suggested by all in attendance that the town fund these projects if they were to go
forward. James Richter and Bob Kasner will arrange an informal meeting with town
officials to discuss the items above. The next formal town meeting will be held in two
weeks to hopefully discuss and finalize the scope of work to be performed at this location.
James Richter, will prepare the Applications, Site Plan and Details for the design of the 900
gallon septic tank and leeching field for submission to the Suffolk County Health
Department by the end of this v~eek.

Chuck Dietz asked if the town might issue a Building Permit prior to receiving Health
Department approval in order to maintain the current scheduled opening date. A
Certificate of Occupancy would not be issued until all work is completed and Health
Department approval has been received.
The Building Department raised several preliminary issues regarding the Construction
Drawings:
Use of Space - The space is classified C1 - Business Space with an accessory use
of C5.1 - Assembly Space for the Media Center. The plans conform with all
egress requirements.
Occupancy load in Media Center - The maximum occupancy of the space was
determined to be 30-35 people; therefore; only one (1) means of egress fi.om the
space. Venetia McKeigan suggested MetLife use the Resource Center for larger
gatherings.
3. Horn/strobe/bells devices being required in the facility, especially in toilet rooms as
required by ADA: The Code states that if a fire alarm system is installed in a
facility then horn/strobe/bell devices would be required; but, since Code does not
require a fire alarm system be installed horn/strobe/bell devices will not be
provided.
