During the construction process the owner requested to have as many 'green' products implemented in her renovation project as possible. She selected a cementitious sprayed foam insulation (Air-Krete) for the walls and blown-in loose untreated fiberglass insulation for the ceiling and attic. Due to the high R-value per inch of the selected products the actual R-values exceed code requirements: R-21 in walls, R-42 in ceilings. In addition the owner decided to have the old wall insulation (R-11) removed in most areas. All existing exterior wall cavities (2x4 stud construction) were punctured to receive the cementitious foam which improved the R-value to -R-14. FRAMING The owner requested a pergola in front of the breezeway facing Hyatt Road. Two 2x4 posts were installed on top of 8" diameter concrete footings with a minimum depth of 36" below grade as per attached drawing which shows the pergola in plan view, section and elevation. ROUGH-IN PLUMBING All rough-in plumbing was completed before the insulation was installed. Pressure tests showed satisfactory results, no leakage was detected.
