The Southo!d Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E.
Klipp at Greenport on Tuesday~ December 7~ 1948. The meeting was
called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the f ~lowlng, present: Super
visor Klipp~ Justices Terry~ Tuthill$ Elbertson and Clark; Town
Superintendent of Highways Prices Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk
Booth.
The Bo~ard sat at once as a committee on audit to.examine claims
ag~:inst the Town~ concluding the audit work-at 2.30 p.M.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and were duly approved
as read.
Moved by ~ustic~ Albertson~ seconded by Justice Clark:
Resolved: That the annual audit meeting of this Board~ be held at
the office of the Supervisor on Thursday~ December 30th~ 19~8~ at
1:30 P.M.
Unanimously adopted,
The Bond of Receiver of Taxes was presented to the Board for approval.
.Moved by Justice Terry~ seconded by Justice Albertson:
Resolved: That~nd No, 05-~81-525 of the American Surety Company
for Receiver of Taxes~ Ralph P. Cox~ be and the same is hereby approved
-as to its form~ manner of execution and sufficiency of surety.
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
Resolved: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is directed to request
the Long Island Lighting Company to install two additional aerial
street lights in the Southold Lighting District, said lights to
he placed on poles NO. ll and 13 on Old Shipyard Lane~ Founders
Estate~.
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by'Justice Terry~ seconded by Justice Albertson:
Resolved: That General Bills in the amount of $3~O0.725 Lighting
District Bills in the amount of $1,140.49; Town Trustee Eccount
$317.~8~ Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in the amount of ~,
$13~92.87~ and Non-reimbursable ~elfare Bills in the amount of
$1~.90 be and the same are hereby ordered paid.
Unanimously adopted.
Chief of Police Anrig ~resented the Police report for Oc2ober and
November and the schedule of work for December.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
Resolved: That the Police report for October and November and the
Police schedule of work from December 6th through January 2nd~ be
accepted by the BOard and placed on file.~
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by Justice &!bertson~ seconded by Justice Terry:
Resolved: That Harold D. Price~ of Peconic~ be and hereby is ap-
pointed a Special Constable for the Town of Southold and to serve
without compensation.
Unanimously adopted.
A letter was read from Frank E. Horn of Wickham Park~ protesting the
construction of a breakwater on the south side of Island View Lane
at Wickham park~ the matter was discussed and referred to the To~
Superintendent of High~ys and the High~y Committee for investi-
gation and action.
A letter was read from F. Gerald Homme!~ President of the East Marion
School Board~ The mat~eT was turned over to the Supervisor for further
investigation.
A letter was read from the New ¥ork~iquor Authority~ Division of
Alcoholic Beverage Control~ pertainiHg/the enforcement of Elcoho!ic
beaverage control law by local agencies or state agencies~ was dis-
cussed. The Supervisor was instructed to advise the State Liquo~
Authority that the Town of Southold desires to continue with local en-
forcement.
Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Clark:
WUaereas~ the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District have
heretofore and on or about the 6th day of No~ember~ 1948~ ente~ed
into a bareboat charter with the Rhode Island Navigation Company for
the chartering of the vessel M.V. Yankee for the period No~ember
8~ 19~8 to.November ll, 1948~ both dates inclusive, and
Whereas~ the Town Board of the Town of Southold finds that in view
of exigencies of the situation~ an emergency existed requiring
immediate action by said commissioners~
NOW~ T~EREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED, that the acts of said Commissioners
in entering into said contract be and the same hereby is approved.
Unanimously adopted.

Meeting of December 30~ 1948
The anhual audit meeting of the Southold Town Board was held at the
office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp~ at Greenport on Thursday~
December 30~ 1938. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M.
with the following present; Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry;
Tuthill; Albertson and Clark; Town Supt. of Highways Price~ Town
Attorney Terry Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved
-as read. ·
Moved by Justice Albertson~ seconded by Justice Terry:
Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board
will be held at the office Of the Supervisor at Greenport on Fri~
day~ January 7~ 1949~ at 1:30 P.M.
Unanimously adopted.
The report of Justice Norman E. Klipp from December 1~ 1947
to December 31~ 1947~ was audited by the Town Board.
Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
Resolved: That the Report of Justice Norman E. Klipp~ from
December l~ 19~7 to December 31~ 1947 be and the same is hereby
approved as follows:
