HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-09/21/1948Meeting of September 21~ 19~8 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp, ~t Greenport~ on TueSday, Sept. 21, 19~8. Themmeeting was called to order at 1:30 with the following present: Super- visor Elipp; Justices Terry~ Tuthill~ Albertson and Claris Super- intendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Tow~ Clerk' Booth. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duty approved as read. In accordance with the notice published in the local papers~ that sealed proposals would be received at the Supervisor's Of- fice on the 21st day of Sept.~ 19~8~ for the construction .and erection of a wire fence at t~e To~ Dump, the sealed proposals were opened by the Supervisor at 2 o'clock P.M. Whereas~ the Town Board has received sealed proposals for the construction and erection of a w~re fence at the Town Dump, and Whereas, the Town Board has examined said-pr0posals~ and Whereas~ the p~oposals of the Atlas Fenc~e Company did not specify a definite date and did not contain a definite unchangeable proposal~ N~w Therefore~ Be It Re~olved. That the bid of the Glen Metal P~oducts Company to construct and install said fence in accor- dance with the ~pecifications for the sum~of $1~99.00 be and the same is hereby determined to be the lowest responsible bid and that the same be and hereby is approved and accepte~. Unanimously adopted. Mr. Bernard Kaplan~ Sec. of Dawn Estates, Inc., appeared before the Board requesting permission to discontinue a certain road on their property at Mattit~ck Inlet and also requested the Board to take over a certain road on this property. The Board advised him they would consider the matter after viewing the roads in question. Moved by Justice Albertson~ seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board be held at the supervisor's office on Monday~ Oct. $, 1958~ at 1:30 Unanimously adopted. A letter was read which was signed by several resident taxpayers of Bray Ave.~ Laurel~ requesting an additional street light be installed on Bray Ave. Moved by. Justice Clark~ seconded by Justice Albertson: · Resolved. That the Town Clerk be and hereby is directed to request the Long Island Lighting Company to install one (1) additional street light in the Mattituck No. 2 Lighting Districts at Laurel~ said light to be placed on pole No. 6 on Bray Avenue. Unanimously ~dopted. A letter was read from the Board ~f Assessors, requesting an in- crease in salaries. The matter was laid on the table for future consideration. A letter was read from Dr. Olson complaining about the rubbish being dump~d~on Frank Macomber's property at Greenport. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That the Supervisor be authorized to communicate with Fra~ Macomber and order him to cease having rubbish dumped on his property. Unanimously adopted. : Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That Rudolph J. Hoerr of Southold, be and is hereby ap- pointed Special Constable to direct traffic at the Southold School Crossing~ at Oakla~Ave. and Main Road~ at a salary of per day for each sdhoo~I day worked~ retroactive to September.l~ 19~8. Klipp at Gree~port~ on Monday~ October $~ 19~8. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 PoM. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry~ Tuthill~ Albertson and Clark; Town Supertendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a~C&mmittee on audit to examine claims against the To~en~ concluding the audit work at 2:1~ P.M. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as read. Moved by Justice Tuthi$1; seconded by Justice Clark: Resolved: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board and the~ preliminary budget meeting be held at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport on Friday~ October 8~ 19~8~ at 1:30 P~M. Unanimously ~opted. Chief of Police Otto Lo Anrig presented the Police report for the month of September and the police schedule of ~ork for the months of Oct. and Nov. ~oved byoJus~ce Terry; seconded by Justice Albertson: ~Resolved: That the Police report for the month of Sept, and the Police schedule of work from Oct. llth to Nov. 9th~ be accepted by the Town. Resolved: ~That General Bills in the amount of $3~880.0~, Lighting District Bills in the amount of $1~150,$9; non-reimbursable Welfare Bills in the amount of $16.90, and Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in the amo~u~ of $12,072,10 be and the same are hereby ordered paid.
