The Southoid To~m Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E, K!ipp at Greenport on Thursday~ November 109 i949~ The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M~ with the following present: Supervisor Elipp; Justices Terry~ Tuthili~ Albertson and Clark; Town Superinten~ dent of Highways P '~ - + _rl~e~ Tovm Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth, The Board sat at once as a Committee on audit to e~amine claims against the Town concluding the audit work at 2:1~ PoM, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as read. Moved by Justice Aibertson; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board be held at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport~ on Tuesday~ November 22~ 1949~ at 1:30 P.M, Unanimously adopted, The Board convassed the b~llot cast on the Library appropriation in the Gen?ral Election o~ Tuesday~ November 8~ 1949. The vote ~s as follows. Yes ~ 2~182; No - 439; Blank - 14; Void - 49~ The proposition to a~pro~riate $10~000. a~ly for the fiscal years 19[( and 1951~ for the support of public libraries in the To~ of Southold ~s duly declared passed. Moved by Justice C!ark~ seconded by Justice A!bertson: Resolved ±~at Irving M. Rogers~ of Greenport and Joseph Sw~ki t' r of Southoid~ be and ne~ are hereby ~.ppointed dog enumerators for the year !950~ Unanimously a~dopted, A petition was presented to the Town Board signed by residents of Southold~ requesting speed limit signs readings"30 mi. per hr.'~ be installed on the County Highway between Boisseau Ave. and The Town Beach, Supervisor Klipp stated he would take the matter up with the State Traffic Commission. Mover by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That General Bills in the amount of $3~3t7,325 Lighting District bills in the amount of $!~304,69; To%~m Trustee bills in the amount of $25,00; Non-reimbursable Welfare bills in the amount of $59,78; Fishers Island Ferry District bii!s~ Account #2 in the amount of $~697,26~ be and the same are hereby ordered paid Unanimously Moved by Justice Aibertson; seconded by Justice Tuthi!!: Resolved: That the Police report for the month of October be accepted by the To-~n Board and placed on file, Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Terry~ seconded by Justice C!ark: Resolved: That the Town Board does hereby approve the letter of agreement between the Fishers Island Ferry District and E~S. Wil- cox in the operation of the vessel Col. John Baxter in the of $8~0OO,O0 from August l~ 1949 to August 31~ 1949~ both dates inclusive. Unanimously adopted, Moved by Justice ~erry; seconded by Justice Clark: W~EREAS~ the Co~s~ty Board of Supervisors of Suffolk County have by resolution set up a f~ud known as the Beach Maintenance Fund to provide for the maintenance of beach protection struct-~res built under the provisions of Chapter 53~ Laws of 194% as amended and~ 226 W~TEREAS~ the County Board of Oupervisors have also~ subject to the approval of the respective Town Boards~ provided that one- half the cost of the said maintenance work be charged back~ in the next roll~ to the To~m in which the said maintenance work is done~ now therefore~ be it Resoived~ that the Town of Southold approves the County solution providing for the maintenance of beach protection structures and be it further Resolved~ that it is the intention of the Town of Southold to share in the cost of such maintenance to the extent of 50% of the cost of said maintenance completed in the Town of Southo!d, Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice A!bertson~ seconded by Justice Clark: Resolved: That the Tow~ Board does hereby approve the letter of agreement between the Fishers Island Ferry District and E.S. Wilcox in the operation of the vessel Col. John Baxter in the sum of $5~OOO.OO from October i~ 1949 to October 31~ !949~ both dates inclusive. Unanimously adopted. A letter was read from'Serge J. Doyen t~nding his resignation as Commissioner of the Fishers Island Ferry District as of October 28~ 1949, Moved by Justice A!bertson; seconded by Justice Clark: Resolved: That the resignation of Serge J. Doyen~ Commissioner of the Fishers Island Ferry District as of October 2~ 1949~ be accepted by the Town Board. Unanimously adopted. Supervisor Kiipp opened the bids for the purchase of seven overcoats for the Police Department which were submitted by several dea!ers. Moved by Justice Terry$ seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That the contract for the purchase of seven overcoats for/the Police Deoartment be awarded to S. Katz~ he being the lowest bidd~r~ at'$67.50 per coat~ providing that the delivery of two coats be made not later tha~ November 30~ 1949~ balance of five coats to be delivered not later tha~ Dec. 15~ 1949. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Supt. of Highways Price; seconded by Justice Clark: Resolved: That the Town Board does hereby accept a deed granting a parcel of land at Laughing Waters: Southoid~ from Cedric H. Wickham and wife~ describedas follows: ALL that certain piece~ or parcel of iand~ situate~ lying and being at a p~ace known as Laughing ~ater~ near Southo!d: in the Town of Southold~ County of Suffolk and State of New York~ commencing for !ocat¢on at a monument set at a point formed by the intersection of the east- erly line of Nakomis Road and the Northerly line of Hi&watha~s Path~ thence Easterly 100,4 feet to a monument and Easterly again along the Northerly line of Hiawatha~s~Path to the South Easte~iy corner of property of John Verity as a point and place of beginning thence Northerly along proDerty of John Verity~ John Schimlich and Peter Sarkus ~+5 fee~ more or less t~ the South Wes~ corner of property formerly Agnes Korn thence North 81o o8~East 163o80 feet by an~ along St. Patric~Gemetery to a point thence South 6o34~ ~ast by and along ~ Patrick Cemetery in a straight line to a point in the Northerly line of Hiawatha's Path~ thence South 84o21~ West by and along the Northerly line of Hiawatha's Path~ thence South 84o2i~ ~est by and along the Northerly line of Hiawatha's Path to the point and place of beginning, Unanimously adopted. 227' Moved by Justice A!bertson~ seconded by Justice Terry: ~ereas~ the Town ~oard of the To~ of Southold has met at the time and place specified in the notice of ~ublic hearing on the preliminary budget and heard all persons desiring to be heard thereon; now~ therefore~ be it -RESOLVED: that the To-we Board of the Town of Southold does hereby adopt such pre!imimary budget as originally com~i!ed~ as the annual budget of this Town for the fiscal year beginning on the !st day of Ja~ary~ 19~0~ and that such budget as so adopted be entered in detail in the minutes of the proceedings of this Town Board~ and be it FURTHER RESOLVED: that the Town Clerk of the Town of Southold shat~ prepare and certify~ in dup!icate~ copies of said annual budget as adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Southold~ gether with the estimates~ if any~ adopted pursuant to Section 202~a Subd. 2~ of the To~a Law and deliver one copy thereof to the Supervisor of this To~ to be presented by him to the Board of Supervisors of the County of Suffolk~ ANNUAL TOWN BSDGET !9~0 Highway Fund Machinery Fund Miscellaneous Fund For Snow Removal For Weeds~ Brush~ Etc.
