HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-10/04/1949 Meeting of October ~ 19~9. The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman'E. Klipp at Greenpor~ on Tuesday~ 0ctober~$~ 19~9. The meeting was called to order at lt~O P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry; TUthill] A~ertson and Clark; Town Sup~. of Highways Price~ Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk~ooth. Mr. Edwin H. Eing~ Mr. Nelson Chapman~ Mr. Ed~v~rd Young~ Miss Constance Terry and Mrs. Edgar Brown~ Directors of the Oyster Ponds Historical Society of 0rient~ appeared before the Board requesting the Board to appropriate a sum of money for the maintainance of the Historical SOciety building. After discussion~ the Board deci~ded to place the sum of $~00. in the budget for such a purpose. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as read~ Th~ Town Clerk presented to the Board estimates on the preliminary budget of all Town officials and Special Districts that were filed in his office. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Albertson: Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board and the preliminary budge~t meeting be held at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport~ on Friday, October 7~ 1949~ at 1:30 P.M. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Albertson; ~conded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That the street lighting contract between the Town of Southold and the Long Island Lighting Co. for Mattituck Lighting District #1 be andhereby is approved by the Town Board~ said contract is fo.r one year and expires on Sept. 25~ 1950. Uhanimously adopted~ Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That the contract between Robert G. Williams~ Public AcCountant and the Fishers Island Ferry Dist. be and hereby is approved by the Town Board. Unanimously adopted. Resolution offered by Superintendent of Highways Harold Price and seconded by Justice of the Peace Ralph W. Tuthill: WHEREAS~ Almighty God ha~ in His ~finite wisdom, seen fit to remove from our midst~ ~LLIAM F. KANE~ a valued employee of the Southold Town Highway Department for over twenty-five years~ whom we all ad- mired and greatly respected for his sterling qualities~ and WHERE~S~ our Community has lost a stalwart citizen~ and the Highway Department has lost a man who gave unstintedly of his time and effort~ 'NOW~ THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED~ that we the members of the Southold Town Board express our deep felt loss on the death of WILLIAM F..KANE~ that we express our heartfelt sympathy to the members of hiS!~family$ 6hat we stand a moment in silent tribute to his memory as a~t°ken'O~iour esteem~ and ~.BEIT FURTHER RES~EV~,n~ that a copy of this Resolution ~ spread in ;f~l uPon the minutes of the Town Board~ and that the Town Clerk cause a'copy thereof transmitted to his family.
