The Annual Fishers Island meeting of the Southold Tov~m~.Board was
held on Tuesday~ August 237 19~9. The Board left Preston's Dock
at 9 A.M. aboard CaPt, Harry Horton's Boat~ accompanied by Senator
S,W. ~orton; .assemblyman Edmund Lupron; County ~up~, of Highways
H,T. ~uthill~ Dist. Supe. of Schools Harry B, Ward~~' George G, Tuthill$
Meade Dobsons Lee Dennison; Otis Butt and Fred Boergesson. Arrived
at Fishers Island at about 11:1~ A,M, ~
The meeting was held in the auditorium of the Fishers Isi~nd School~
and W~s 6alled to order by Supervisor Klipp at 1:1~ P.M, with the
follOwing'members of the Board presenv; Supervisor Klipp; Justices
Terry~Sh~nktin~ Tztthii!~ Aibertson and Clark~ Town Supt~of H~gh~-
ways Price~ Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Terry:
Resolvad: ~hat the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting
be dispensed with.
Unanimously adopted,
SuPervisor Klipp opened the meeting with brief remarks and stated the
meeting was cpened for discussions,
Mrs. Hedge stated that something should be done in regard to the
parking on booth sides of the street in the vicinity of .the s~or~s
on 1MontauJ~ Ave, Supt. Price stated he would supply no Parking signs.
Justice Shanklin agreed to have them erected on the street in cuestion.
~ people of Fishers Island were much concerned above a report
~h~t they would be without a ferry when the army terminated at
~ort. Wr~ht on Oct. 1st. They~were assured by Supervisor Ktipp~
oena~or~ Horton and A.J. Gada~ a commissioner of the Ferry District
that they would have a ferry. The people were also concerned about
having no physician on the Island now that Fort W~ight was closing.
Supervisor Klipp stated that he would take the matter up with Dr.
Rafle~ Suffolk County Health Commissioner.
Mr. Gada state~ that the Commissioner of the Ferry District would
like the Ferry District to operate as a regular Special District
along the lines of a Fire District. Senator Horton stated he did
not think that tc~h~ Dept. of Audit and Control would consider a
change in the accc-~ut~ but wo~3_ld do what he could to have it
ameaded.
Mr; Gada brought up the question that Suffolk Co~ty aquire the
navigation Dock at Fort Wright~ County Supt. of Highways H.T.
Tuthiil s~ggested that Mr. Gada ~et all the factsand figtL~es on
the dockhand present them to him~and he Would present them to the
County Board of Supervisors for their consideration, After the
Peninsula Road was discussed the following resolution ~s adopted:
Moved by Supt. of Highways Price~ seconded by Justice Clark:
Resolved: That as soon as the required signatures are secured and
th~ necessary ~apers are properly filled out and presented to the
Town Board~ and-if approved~ P~ninsula ~Road will be taken over and
maintained as a public ~ighway.

It was agreed to hold the reEular monthly audit meeting of this
Board at the office of Supervisor at Greenport on ~d. Sept. 7~
1949~ at 1:30 P.M.
