HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-07/19/1949Meeting of July 19~ 1949 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport~ on Tuesday~ July 19~ 19~9. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: JustiCes Terry~ Tuthill~ Albertson, and Clark; Town Superintendent of High- ways Price; Town attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The~minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved~as read. Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by JuStice Tuthill: Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board be held at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport~ on Tuesday~ Aug~ ust 9~ 1949~ at 1:30 P.M. Unanimously adopted. Mrs. Florence Mahoney and Mrs. Cecelia K~ein appeared before the ~oard presenting a petition signed by several taxpayers of Mat- tituck~ requesting the removal of no parking signs at the foot of Bay Avenue~ Mattituek~ feeling that.they necessitate an unneeessary hardship and are of no useful purpose and constituting an infring- ment of ,the rights and privilmges of taxpayers. After a discussion by the Board the following resolution was~ad- opted. MoVed bM Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolve~: ~hat the No Parking signs that are at the intersection of Bay ~venue and Peconic Bay Boulevard~ Mattituck~ extending sOuth toiWar~s Peco!nic Bay for a distance of 375 feet be removed and signs be placed at a distance of 25 feet from the foot of Bay Avenue~ Said signs to read~ "No parking b~yond this Point". Unanimously adopted. Moved bM Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Albertson: Resolve~: That ciaims against the Town of Southold~ County of S~ffolk~, New York~ instead ~f being ~erified~ may be presented~ audited and ~paid &f any SUCh claim shall have been certified pursuant to Section 103 of the Town Law and Section 28~ of 'the Highway ~aw~ to be true and correct in a statement signed by or on behalf oif a claimant upon a form prescribed by the Town Board of such ToWn~ which form shall be as follows: The ~undersigned (~laimant) or acting on behalf of above named ~laimanti) does hereby certify that the foregoing claim is true and correct and that no part has been paid~ except as therein stated~ and that the balance therein stated is actually due and owing. BE IT FURTHER RESDLVED: That this resolution shall take effect immediately. Unanimou~sly adopted. At a meeting of the Southold Town Trustees held at the Town Clerk's office~ Sout~omd~ on July 18~ 1949, the following resolution was dopted. Resolved that Section 2 of the Southold Town Ordinance relating ~to th~ taking and manner of taking escallops from the Southold Town Waters be amended to teas as follows: "It shall be unlawful to take escallops from the Town waters of Southold Town during the period from April I to September 15 inclusive." The Clerk of the Town Trustees was authorized to forward this resolution to the Town Board for appropriate action. Alvah B. Section l: Section 2 of Southo~d T~a ordinance ~eg~la~ing the taking and'manner of taking escallops fro'm'To~m ~aters~ dated Jan. 20~ 19~ and effective February 8~ ~9~ is hereby amended as follows: It shall be unlawful to take escallops from Town ~aters from April Eirst to September fifteenth in each year both dated inclusive. Section 2: Except as herein modified, the aforesaid ordinance shall.remain in full force and effect. Adjournmen~ was at 3 P.M; Ralph P; Booth Town Clerk
