2O5 Meeting of May 2k, 19k9 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport on Tuesday~ May 2k~ 1959. The meeting -was called to order atI 1:30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp~ Justices Terry; Tuthill~ Albertson and Clark; Town Superin~endent~of Hi,Sways Price; To~m Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as read. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill; Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this Board be held at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport, on Tuesday~ June 7, !9k9~ at 1:30 Unanimously a~opted. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Terry: Whereas, the Public Housing Administration has requested that the Town of Southold accept a deed of dedication of a highway ~0 feet in width as laid out on a map of Greenport Homes, and Whereas, the Town Board of the Tow~ of Southold after due deliberation deems it to be in the public interest ~ accept such highway, Now~ Therefore Be It Resolved: That upon compliance by such govern- mental Agency with the requirements of $~c. 171 oD the Town Highway Law and the u~age.~and custom of th~ To~w~ said dec. of dedication be accepted and said highway be accepted as a public Highway in the Town of Southold, Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by J~stice Albertson: ~ghereas~ the housing and home finance agency of the Public Housing AdminiStration has requested thatthe Town B~ard of the Town of Southold approve the proposed method of disposal of homes, and Whereas, the Town Board does not deem it within its province to require property holders to dispose of their property in any specified, manner~ Now Therefore Be It Resolved: That the Town Board of the Town of Southold make no objection to the disposition of property of said governmental agency. NnanimOusly-adopted° Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Albertson: Resolved: That Welfare Officer, Archie W~ Symonds be authorized to attend the Town and County Officers Training School at Hobart- Williams-Smith Colleges at Geneva~ N.Y. on June 1~-16-17~ necessary expenses incurred by a Welfare Officer attending this sc~aool is a properlcharge against the Town, Sec. 102 of the Town Law. Unanimously adopted. Moved by JustiCe Terry; seconded by Justice Albertson: Resolved: That Supervisor Norman E. Klipp be authorized to transfer Seven Thousand Dollars ($7,000.00) frp~ Eishers Island Ferry- Bistrict Account #1 to Fishers Island Ferry District Account #2, Account #1 to be reimbursed in like amount by subseqment receipts from Account Unanimously adopted. The Board audited a claim of Charles W. Smith Co.,In~. on insurance polic~. Resolved: That Fishers Island Ferry District Bill account #2 in the amount of $6~9OO. be and the same is hereby ordered paid. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice A!bertson; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That the To~ Clerk be instructed to request the Long Island Lighting Co. to install one (1) additional aerial street light in the Southold Lighting District~ said light to be placed on Pole #!--~ on Cottage Place. Unanimously adopted. 206 Moved by ~ustice Terry; seconded by Justice Tuthill:~ Hesolved: That the Town Clerk be instructed to request the Long Island Lighting Co. to install one (1) additional aerial street · 'light in the Orient Lighting District~ said light to be placed on Pole #135~ Mai'n Road. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Clark~ seconded by Justice Tuthill: Eesolved: That the Supervisor be authorized to purchase child~ens ~nalayground equipment for the Southold Town Beach. ~mous!y adopted. A-representative of the Davey Tree Expert Co. appeared before the Board recommending that the trees throughout the Town be trimmed and the split limbs be reimforced with cables across the crotches~ the matter was laid on the table for further consideration. Mr. DeLong representing the Goose Bay Civic Association appeared before the Board explaining the dredging project in Goose Creek which they have undertaken~ stating they have spent $~OOo.on the project and their funds are exhausted and requested the Town to appropriate the sum of $2~O00. to ©mplete the project, which would mean dredging 800 feet from Goose Creek Bridge out in Peconic Bay~ The Board discussed the matter and decided it w~s up to the County to stand the cost of dredging that part in the bay. A public hearing was held at the office of the Supervisor at Green- port, on Tuesday~ May 24~ 1949~ to consider a prgposed Town Ordin- ance regulating the raising and keeping of ducks within the Town of Southold. The Town Clerk presented proof of publication of such hearing. Supervisor Klipp opened the hearing at 2 o'clock PoM, and read the call of themeeting. He then cRlled upon any ~person present wishing ~o speak either for or against the proposed or~ dinance. There being no person present wishing to be heard the hear- ing was duly closed at 2:30 P.M. Moved by Justice Terry~ seconded by Justice Clark: On roll call the following ordinance was unanimously adopted by the Tow~ Board: SOUTHOLD TOWN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE RAISING AND KEEPING OF DUCKS WITHIN THE TOWN OF SOUTHOLD SECTION l: No person, firm or corporation shall establish, operate or maintain any commercial enterprise for the raising and keeping of ducks within the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York~ without first obtaining written permission of the Town Board~ after filing written application therefor with the Town Clerk. SECTION 2: No person shall raise or keep ducks for personal or family use~ in excess of 150~ without first obtaining written permission of the Town Board, SECTION 3: No person, firm or corporation shall cause~ allow or permit waste matter resulting from the raising and keeping of ducks to be deposited in any waters or %ands under water the control of which is vested in the Town of Southold or the Board of Trustees of the Town of Southold. SECTION 4: Any ~iolation of this ordinance shall constitute a mis- demeanor and shall be punishable by a fine of not more than$500,OO or imprisonment for not more than one year or by both such fine and imprisonment.
