Meeting of January 6, 1950'.
The orga~izationmeeting of the S~utheld Town Board was held at the
offic~ of Supervisor Norman E, K~ipp~ at Gree~ort on Friday~ Ja~.
6~ 1950. The. meeting was Cal~led .to order a~ 1.30 p.M. with the
following present: Supervisor KliDp;I Justi~es Te~ry;Tuthill;
Albertson andi~¢lark; Towa Supt. of HighWays srice; T0w~Attorney
Terry and TownClerk Booth.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly~ approved as
read.
The Board sat as a Committee on Audit to examine claims against
the Town~ concluding the audit work at 2:30 P.M.
Moved by Justice'Albertson~ seconded by Justice Clark:
Resolve~ : That General Bills in the amount of $8~515.25; Lighting
District Bills in the amount of $1~171.75; Fishers island Ferry
DistriCt Bills Account No. 2 in the amount of $8.00 ~nd No~-reimb-
ursable Welfare Bills in the amount of $281.55 be and the sam~
are hereby ordered paid.

Resolved: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board be held
at the office of the ~upervisor at Greenport on January 2~, 1950~

Resolved:. That the Supervisor be a~4 ~e~eby is authorized
to renew the lease of the concessio~ at the Southold Town Beach
to J~ck Levin of Greenport for a period of five years beginning

WHEREAS~ it is reqnired by Section 27~ Subdivision I of the Town
Law that theiTownBOard fix the salaries of all Town elected
officers at an amoUnt not in excess of the amounts respectfully
specified in the notice of hearing on the preliminary budget~
published pursuantto Section ll3 of the Town Law~ now therefor~
be it

for their respective offices and that these salaries be paid in
regular monthly payments, and be it further

RESOLVED, tha't Wayland Jefferson be compensated while acting in
such capacity-~in the amoumt of Four HUnd~e~ Dollars ($k~Oi. o0),
per year~ payable in regular monthly payments, and be it Turther
RESOLVED', {h~t the expense incurred per year 6y the Town Historian
mn the performance of his duties be paid by the Town in an amoun~
not to exceed One Htmdred Dollars ($100.00) per year~ and be it
further
RESOLVED~ that the Town Clerk be instructed to file such certificate

~tEREAS~ it has been recommended to the Town Board by the Board
of Assessors that a Chairman of the Town Assessors be designated~
now therefore be it
RESOLVED~'that RAYMOND W. TERRY be and hereby is designated to hold
the office oF Chairman of the Town Board of Assessors ttatil the
first day of January next succeeding such designation all in ac-
cordance with 22 ~ of the Town Law~. and be it further
RESOLVE~-~ that the compensation for such appointment be fixed
at $300~er year, payable in regular monthly payments.

WHEREAS~ Section 6~ o~ the Town Law requires the Town Bo~rd to
desighateby resolution banks of this state in which the
Supervisor or any other offic~ of the Town shall deposit all
monies cominginto their hands by virtue of their offices~ snd
WHEREAS~ THE Town Board may require any Bank so designated to
deposit with such Board the Bonds or Certificates of the U~zited
States of the State of New York or any County~ Town~ City~
Village or School District of the State of New York as securigy
for such funds so deposited by such bonds or certificates shall
be subject to the approval of the Town Board and shall be
deposited in such place and held under such conditions as the
Town Board may determine~'now therefor be it
RESOLVED~ thag the folloging banks of the Town be and hereby are
designated gs depositories for all monies of the Town~ and be
it ~ur~her
RESOLVED~ that the amount of security herein set forth for each
respective-bank be and hereby is approved.

WHEREAS, ~ection 62 of the Town Law requires that every~Town
Board shall meet on or after the 28th day of December~ but not
later than the 31st day of December~ in each year~ and~
WHEREAS~ there is no other~time specified by law when meetings of
the Town Board of a Second Class To~ shall be held~ now therefo~re
be it ~- -
RESOLVED~ that the Supervisor be and hereby is empowere~ to 'call
all meetings of the Town Board as may-be required for the Best
interest of the Town~ and be it further
RE-SOLVED~ that e~chmember of the Tow~Board be given'at least
2 daYs~otice in advance of such meeting~ notice to contain the
time and place wh~re such meeting is t o be held.

Supervisor Klipp - Ex officio member of all Committees.
Within sixty (60) days after the close of the fiscal year the
Treasurer of each Fi~e District shall file in the office of the Town
Clerk and the State Comptroller a financial statement setting forth
in detail the receipts and expenditures of the ~ire District for the
previous fiscal year. (Section lB1 of the Town Law).
On or before the t~th day of January in each year the CommiSsioners
of each Improvement District shall file with the Town Clerk a
financial report for the presiding fiscal year. (Section 2t~
Subdivision 9~ Town Law). ·
Tko Town Clerk~shall adivse the Town Board as to existing contracts~
for lighting, garbage collection~ fire protection~ water supply;
and also leases of any property rented by the Town and sPeCi£~
the date of expiration of such Contracts.(

The Town Clerk shauld supply the Executive Secretary of the As-
sociation of Towns at the Hotel Ten Eyck~ Albany~ New York~ a
correct list of the names and addresses of all Town0Fficers and the
Supervisor should advise the members that hey the Town Clerk~
Justi~esof the ?eace~ Superintendent of Highways, ~ssessors, Welfare
Officer and the Town Attorney will receive copies of Meetings bul-
letins issued by. the Town a~ County Officers Training School on
subjects of interest and importance to various officers~.
