HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-06/05/1951 Meeting of June 5, 1951 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman Klipp at Greenport, on Tues., J~ue 5, 1951. The meeting was called to order at l:Bo P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Klipp;Justices Terry, Tuthill and Albertson; Tow~ Superintendent of H~ighways Brice~ Town AttorneY Terry and Tow~Clerk Booth. The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims against the Town, concluding the audi~ work at 2 P.M. The'minUtes of the previous meeting were read and were duly approved as read. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That the regular monthl~ meeting of the Board be held at the office ef the Supervisor at Greenport, on Tues., Junel9, 1951, at 1:30 P.M. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Albertson; seconded by Justice Terry: Whereas, There. exists a vacancy in the office of the JuStice of the Peace of FiShers Island,New York, caused by the death of Radford C. Shanklin~ and ~ereas, It ~ecame necessary to appoint some p~rson to fill such vacancy, therefore, be it Resolved; That E. Perry Edwards be and hereby is appointed to hold the °ffi~e of Justice of the Peace of Fishers Island~ New York,until the next a~nual election at which' the vacancy may be filled in accordance with Section 65, Subdivision 5 of the Town Law, and that the Town Clerk be instructed to notify the proper parties of such appointment in accordance with Section BO, Subdivision $ of the Town Law~ and be it further Resolved: That the compensation for said appointee be fixed at TWelve Htmdred Dollars ($1200.OO) per year, payable in regular -monthly payments, and be it fttrther ~ReSolved: That this appointment take effect as of June) 16, 1951. ~amimously adopted, Ralph P. A communication was read from the Mattituck Fire Department re- questing permission of the Town Board to use Sound Avenue between Love Lane and Pacific Street ss a tournament track, to be used for the ~Orth Fork Volunteer ~iremens Tournament to be held at Mattituck on July $, 1951~ that portion of said Avenue to be used from 12 noon to about 5 P.M. 353 Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Albertson: 354 Resolved: That permission be granted the ~attituck Flr~ Department to close to normal traffic a portion of So~Ud A~enue~ Between Love Lane and Pacific Street, In the Village of ~ttituck. hours of 12 noon and absut ~ P.M. to be used by the ;~orth teer Firemans Association for a Tournament on July ~ 19~l, pro- viding the Town of Southold be indemnified and saved harmless from any and all claims arising out of or by reason of the 'same and that the Town be furnished with an insurance policy of indemnification . Ackuowledgements of messages of sympathy to the families of ~ Hen~selaer G. Terry and Radford C. Shanklin, have been received, read and placed on file.
