The Southold Town ~oard met at the office of ~upervisor S,
entwor,h Horton, at Greenport Un Wednesday, Aug.
The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following
present: ~Supervisor Horton~ Justices Terry; Hawkins; Elipp and
Tuthill;. ~0wn Superintendent of N~ghways, Price; Town~ttorney,
Terry and Town Olerk,
The Board sat. at o~e as a committee on audit to examine claims
against the ~ow~eoncluding the audit at E:00 P~.
The minutes of~ the previous meeting were read and d~y approved
as read.
~oved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Tutb~lt:
~Y~REAS, pursuant to Chapter ~5, Law~ ~f 1~40, as amended by
Chapter 4~O, Laws of 1946, the Superintendent of ~blic Works,
State of New York, has prepared plans for the construction of
three stone ~etties on Long Island Sound on Truman Beach in the
Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, at a cost not to exceed~
$1E,000.00, now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the.plans and estimates submitted for the c~n-
struction of the ~etties be and hereby are approved, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that it is the intention of the Town of Southoid
to participate in sharing the c~st of the.~rk to the extemt of
twenty five percent (B5%) .of the total cost, and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, t~t the resolution adopted by this Board on
Decen~ber Z1, 1~46, approving plans for the construction of three
timber jetties be and hereby is rescinded.
Unanimously adopted.
The Town Clerk was instructed to forward a copy of the above resol-
ution to the Clerk of the ~oard of Supervisors.

Resolved~ That the ~own Board hereby authorize the Supervisor to
purchase from the addressograph-Multigraph Corp. one Class 1900
addressograph, equipped as specified in proposal as presented to the
Board at a quoted price of $2,~62.50, delivered, provided, however,
~nat a second hand addres~ograph cannot be obtained as was
proposed ay this meeting.
Unanimously adopted.
E petition was presented to the Town Board by legal residents of
the Village of Orient, requesting the Board to passthe necessary
ordinance, declaring it illegal to park vehicles in the no park-
ing zone, as is now designated on Village Lane, and that an officer
be stationed a specified number of hours daily to enforce this
ordinance.

Besolved~ That a Public Hearing will be held at the office of the
Supervisor at Greenport, on Wednesday, Aug. ~?, lg47, at 2:00 P.M.
to consider a proposed ordinance prohibiting the parking of motor
vehicles on the westerly side ofV~ illage Lane in the Hamlet of
Orient.

Resolved: ~i~nat general Bills in the amount of $E,8~9.~ and non-
reimbursable Welfare Bills in the amount of $~So~0 be and the
same are hereby ordered paid.

Resolved: That the schedule presented to the Town ~oard by the
Superintendent ~ Highways, on the proposed salaries of em-
ployees of the ~ighway Department be a~proved.

Resolved: What the regular monthly meeting of this Board be held
on Wednesday, August 27, 1947, at 1:30 P.M. '

Resolved: That the Southold Town ~oard hereby recommends FrankS.
Dawson of New Suffolk, for reappointment as Attendance Supervisor
for the common schools of the Town of ~Southotd for the year 1947-4B,
at. a salary of $800. Der annum, he to pay his own travel expense.
Said appointment subject to the a~prov~l oi the Distric:t
erintendent of Schools and that the Town Glerk be directed ~
notify the Superintendent, Harry Be. Ward of the recommendation of
this Board.
Unanimously adopted.
