The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the follow-lng Present: Supervisor Horton~ Justices Terry; Hawkins; Klipp and Tuthill; Town.Superintendent Of Highways, Price; Town Attorney, Terry and Town Clerk, Booth. A delegation of citizens from East Marion and Orient appeared before the BOard, requesting that some action be taken in reference to the erosion of the Sound Beach at East Marion on the property of ~eorge N. Tisdale. Edwin H. Kingl Irving C. Latham, David Gillispie~ Wayland The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as read. The hearing on the matter of purchasing machinery for the TownHigh- way Dept. was duly opened at 2:00 P.M. No person appeared before the Board to speak against the items mentioned in the legal notice pub- blished in the Town newspapers, the hearing was closed at 2:ISiP.M~ Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Tuthill: Whereas the Town Superintendent did on the 23rd day of May, 19~7, duly recommend the purchase of certain machinery pursuant to the provisions of Section 1~2 of the Highway Law, and a notice of~such recommendation has been duly published as provided in such action, Now Therefore Be It Resolved that pursuant to Section 1~2 of the High- way Law the Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized to purchase from Long Island Produce & Fertilizer CO., Inc., Ri~e~nhead, L.i., New York with the approval of the County Superintendent of Highways: 1-International Truck, Model KBS-8, 1~9" W.b. chassis; 2 speed rear axle; Air.brakes; HFA Cab; Delux o~l filter; Heater & defroster; Front t0w Hook, Large capacity radiator, F52~ direct in. Sth trans, mission~ Gar W6od F~Ca H~ist with power takeoff & Drive, H-l, 3 cu. yd. dump body, double acting~ tailgate; ~ #8 g.a. cab protector~ installed~ sprayed to match cab. for a total price of: Five thousand six hundred seventy-seven & ~6/1OO-Dollars (~5~677.56), delivered at Peconic, L.I., N.Y., and to be delivered on or about June 15~ 19~7. The Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized, subject to the approval of the County Superintendent of Highways, to surrender to the above named vendor one 1936 International Dump Truck as part payment for the above machinery to be purchased. ~ The terms of payment will be as follows: Trade-in allowance ..................... $ 6 Check drawn on Machinery Fund ............ When such contract has been duly executsd and approved~ the Supervisor is authorized to complete such purchase upon delivery of the item purchased in accordance with the ter~s of such resolution and such contract~ and to pay the above amoum~s specified to be paid by check or checks. (t) by a check drawu~ on the Machinery Fund (Item 3) for $1,215.20. (2) by a check in the amount of $9~000.00 drawn on the account established from the proceeds of o~li§ations to be issued pursuant to the Local Finance Law to finance such purchase. Such obligations will be authorized to be issued by ~ Board by a separate resolution. Unanimously adopted. ~ A l~ter was read from the Catholic War Veterans of Greenport, re- questing maintenance of rooms. Moved by Justice Klipp; seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: That pursuant to sub-division 13 of sec. 6~ of the Town Law~ the Town Board will consider the requests as soon as the Veteran~ secure headquarters. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Hawkins~ seconded by Justice Terry: Resolved: That Arthur F. Bennett of Southold, be and is hereby ap- pointed Special Constable to direct traffic at the Southold School crossing, at 0aklawn ~ve. and Main Road, at a salary of $~.00 per day~ retroactive a~ of May 12, 19~7. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Hawkins; seconded by Justice Tuthill: Resolved: iThat John Muir, Special Constable b~ granted a vacation of two ~with pay~ beginning on May 28, 1947'o Unanim~us~dopted. Moved hy Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Hawkins: ResOlved: That Justice Tuthill be appointed a committee~of one to arrange to have built two picnic tables~ a fireplace~ also a pump driven on Town owned property at.Laurel Lake. Unanimously adopted. Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Hawkins: Resolved: That the regular monthly audit meeting of this board be 'held on Tuesday~ June ~ 19~7~ at l:~O P.M.
