The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor S. Wentworth
Ho~ton at Greenport on Tuesday, April 8, 19~?. The meeting was
called to order at 30 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor
Norton; Justices,. Terry, Hawkins, Klipp and Tuthill; To~ Superin-
tendent~oF Highways~ Price; Town Attorney, Terry an~ Town Clerk, ~ooth.
The minutes of 'the previous meeting were read and duly approved as
read.
The Board sat as a committee 'on audit to examine claims-~against the
ToE~ concluding the audit at 2 P.M.
.The hearing on the proposed ordinance prohibiting the parking of
motor vehicles on the easterly side of Village Lane at Orient
which was carried over from the last meeting was duly opened 'at
20~olock P.M.
Mr. Edwin H. King appeared before the Board representing a number
of taxpayers in Orient. He spoke in favor of no parking on the
westerly side of Village Lane and having erected thereon speed
limit~ signs and no parking signs, he was also in favor of dropping
the proposed.ordinance for the present time. The hearing was closed
at 2;50 P.M.
Moved by Justice Terry~ seconded hy Justice Tuthill:
R~solved: That parking ofmotor vehicles on the westerly side of
Village lane in the Hamlet of Orient, from the point of intersection
of the northerly side of Skippers Lane and the westerly side of
Villag~ Lane and running northerly along the said westerly side of
Village Lane £~ a~di§tance of 3lO feet, is hereby prohibited, yl/
Further Resolved:~ That the Superintendent of Highways be and here~
is instructed to erect six speed limit signs reading "20 miles per
hour" and three "No-parking"signs on Village Lane as heretofore
described.
Be It Further Resolved: That no action be taken on the proposed
ordimanc~ at the present time.

Moved by Justice Klipp, seconded by Justice Hawkins:
Resolved: That General Bills in the amot~ut of $9~$73.17, and non-
reimbursable Welfare Bills in the amount of $26.85 be and the same
is hereby ordered paid.
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Terry:
Whereas, a resolution which was adopted by the Town Board on March
28, 19~7~ requesting the Long Island Lighting Cojpany to install
Undergrd~ wires in place of the existing wires on Park ^ye and
Lake Road, in Mattituck Lighting District #1, is hereby rescinded
as it does not cover the situation~ The following Resolution be~
substituted:
Be It Resolved: That the Town Clerk be and hereby is instructed to
request the Long Island Lighting Co. to install an underground line
from the existing pole #6 on Park Ave. and running in a westerly dir-
ection 667 feet on Park Ave. to serve the Mattituck Air Base.
Unanimously adopted.

Resolved: That the ~egular m~y.meeting of this Board be held
Friday, April 25, 1947, at l:~O P.M
Unanimously adopted.
