The DOT plans to take a back seat in this process, although the firm of Dunn Engineering Associates (study consultants) will be required to support the presentations to the. public. scenic. Byways Corridor Management Plan Update: The nominating document is ready with the exception of the town section which is being prepared by Valerie Scopaz. NYSDOT Plans for Route 25 After two meetings with DOT officials regazding final plans for resurfacing of Route 25, we are still awaiting their official response with respect to the negotiated changes. A discussion ensued regarding the newly installed traffic light at Route 25 & Factory Avenue, lack of adequate signage and problems associated with people exiting the shopping plaza. The Committee has a complaint letter from the Magic Fountain. It was decided that a meeting with the DOT and concerned businesses around that intersection is necessary to resolve these problems. In fact, a suggestion was made that the DOT be requested to meet with town officials every six weeks to resolve potential problems while work is underway. Valerie Scopaz will convene this meeting. Transportation Co mi ion C at .c pdate. The Town Board is scheduled to discuss the proposed change from a committee to a commission on 2/1/00. We do not anticipate any problems. As soon as the change is affected, the town will advertise to fill the three open slots. Page 2 Rye uect tot .ow r h ~d .i i The Committee has received a request to lower the speed limit from 35 to 15 miles on North Bayview Road & Goose Creek, Southold. We will request a study from the DOT (normal procedure even for town roads) although there was a general consensus that this reduction was highly unlikely. A possible solution would be signage or visual traffic calming solution. The nest meeting is scheduled for February 29 at BAM, Southold Town Hal[ Respectfully submitted, Neboysha R. Brashich Chairman
