Marty Flatiey, Tom Fox, Ruth Oliva, Michelle Zaloom, Supt. of Hwys Pete Harris, Jamie Richter, Victor L'eplatteniet, and Bruno Simon, Town Site Planner Proposed Site Plan for R_M~ Medical Art Office B ~~[ding Proied Bnmo Simon, Town Site Planner, continued kus dtscussron of the medical complex proposed for the corner of Norton's Lane and Rte. 48 in Southold. Of concern was the amour 'traffic onto Norton's Lane from the complex and the volume of traffic expected at closing time. It is anticipated that there will be a maximum of 20 offices in the complex. A question was raised about whether two power poles and the traffic signal pole should be moved to accommodate a right turn Zane onto Rte. 48 from HOtton'S Lane. Jamie will develop a cost estimate to move the poles and make the turning lane. Margaret suggested that perhaps there should be three lanes at the entrance to the parking lot on Norton's Lane - one to enter and separate left turn and right turn exit lanes. Jamie and Bruno Simon will meet with the DPW at the site to evaluate these possibilities. In a side discussion, site planning for the new CVS Pharmacy in Mattituck has raised tbe question of whether Sigsbee Road and Factory Avenue should be more aligned. Property may be available to make this possible. The Transportation Commission will send a letter to the Planning Board to say that we are reviewing the recommendations. SEEDS Update: The SEEDS Modeling Timeline has now been revised to extend to November 2004 in order to complete development of a Weekend Model. A final version should be out by the spring 2005. Seaview Trails: Three trailhead signs need to be installed. Draft Long Island Nar-Mcucxi~.vi Tnn portation Study Meeting with Town B rd 5/4/04: The NYSDOT came to the Town Boers meeting May 4, 2004 and presented a list of proposed bicyding corridors. Five areas were identified: Route 25,1?econic Lane/Soundview Avenue, Lighthouse Road/Youngs Avenue, South Avenue/Old South Avenue, and Peconic Bay Badevard/Sigsbee Road. At the meeting, Supervisor Horton requested that our trail system be added to the list. Margaret will meet with Victor to come to an agreement about what should be added to (or deleted from) the Sate list and review Neb's draft letter, making changes if needed. Petition -Make T~W`kerc i am Rohr T»rn Only: The Commission received a petition with 44 names from Danielle Helmski requesting tlmt Tuckers Lane be designated as right turn only onto Route 48. However, many of the names on the petition were not from the Tucker's Lane neighborhood and thus the petition did not reflect the views of tbe neighborhood. Therefore, Ms. Helinski will be asked to bring a more representative petition, at which time the Town Board would need to make a resolution to send it to the Suffolk County DPW. New Business: Neb received a telephone call from Ball Ross, who bas worked on SEEDS and is a Stakeholder. He is interested in developing an East End initiative to link rail and bus service to improve public transportation on the Fast Fns. He invited members of the Commission to attend a luncheon where this proposal would be discussed. Margaret volunteered to go and gather move information. Victor would like to know if we want to be a liaison between the State 17OT and their construction office during the Rte. 25 repaving pryJ ed, so businesses effected could be kept informed. The office is being set up on Griffin Street in Cutchogue and will be their field office. They had regular meetings with Greenport business people during that resurfacing project. Neb will call Pat to say that this must be publidzed and meetings with affected business people should be held. Newborn Construction has the cmtttact to do the project. Visor requested information on the Ben Franklin mile markers. Do we Imow where they are and is there something in place so Victor can work with the DOT on preserving these historic mile posts? Ruth suggested calling Bill Peters. The next meeting will be Monday, June 21, 2004, at 10 AM, Southold Town Hall. Respectfully submitted, Mazgaret H. Brown
