The Southold Town Planning Board held a meeting Tues., July 6, 1982
at 2:30 p.m. at the Southold Town Hall, Main Road, Southold, New York
to discuss personnel. Present were:
Chairman Henry E. Raynor, Jr.
Member G. Ritchie Latham, Jr.
Member William F. Mullen, Jr.
Member Bennett Orlowski, Jr.
The board reviewed a report listing all subdivisions filed with the
Planning Board in 1981 and 1982, noting more than double the amount
of subdivisions were submitted in the slx months of 1982 than the 12
month period of 1981. The major subdivisions total more than 500 lots.
It was the concensus of the Planning Board ~to recommend to the Town
Board that no moratorium be imposed on major development for the full
length of the development plan update. The board was in agreement that
should a planninq firm discover potential problems, such as water, in
a given area that that would be the time to consider the possibility of
restricting activity within a problem area for a short period of time,
not to exceed 60 days.
As a result of the in-depth presentation, quality, quanity and estab-
lished expertise, the Southold Town Planning Board feels the methodology
of research by Raymond, Parish, Pine & weiner by unanimous consent
should be awarded the undertaking for the Southold Town Master Plan and
Zoning Ordinance Update. After review of specific data requested from
both Ward Associates and Raymond, Parish, Pine & Weiner, the Planning
Board does not find Ward Associates satisfactory for proceeding with
the Master Plan. The Planning Board will forward such information to
the ToWn Board and request funding for this project.
Irwin Thompson site plan - Mr. Irwin Thompson adivsed the Planning
Board'that the approved curb cut located on the Main Road would result
in the removal of a tree located on state property. Mr. Thompson has
requested an amendment on the location of the curb cut approximately
four feet east of that which is designated on the approved map to
avoid removal of this tree. Raymond Dean, Superintendent of Highways,
pg. (2) 7/6/82
has requested that the applicant place additional curbing and sidewalks
west of the construction site; east of Boisseau Avenue as stated in
his letter of June 30, 1982. The applicant stated he had no objections
and would comply with such request.
On motion made by Mr. Latham, seconded by Mr. Orlowski, it was
RESOLVED that the Southold Town Planning Board approve the amendment
on the site plan of Irwin'Thompson to realign the existing curb cut
approximately four feet east of that which is designated on the approved
map, along with additional curbing and sidewalk to be placed west of
the construction site; east of Boisseau Avenue.
