I ~ ~~~~~~ In Englneering UNION SQUARE 727 UNION AVENUE RIVERHEAD, NY 11901 July 31, 2002 Town of Southold Building Department Town Hall Main Road Southold, N.Y. 11971 Re: Proposed Residence ofCharles Hydell AT 150 Henry's Lane, Southold, N.Y., SCTM# 1000-074.00-02-037.2 Gentlemen: We have inspected the concrete block foundation of the above referenced residence, on this date at the request of the owner and hereby issue this engineering report and recommendations. It is our opinion that the foundation will be adequate to meet the structural demands of the proposed residence, if certain improvements were implemented. The recommended improvements are that deformed reinforcement bars of minimum #5 size be placed continuously in the vertical cells of the blocks (from top of wall to top of existing footing), then backfilled completely within these cells with 2,500 psi strength, cement concrete. The bars should be installed vertically, every 3-feet on center along the foundation wall, and every 1.5-feet on center along the garage foundation walls. This will provide the necessary structural integrity for the existing foundation to support the proposed residence and soil backfill. Anchor bolts for the timber plates should also be continued around the foundation. It is further recommended that the floor joists be set in place and the sub-floor be erected, prior to backfilling operations.
