Upon arriving a~ the. scene of the fire, the firemen of the
party~,r the second part a~tending shall proceed diligently and-
i~ every way reasonably suggested to the extinguis~ent of the
fire, and the saving of life and property in connection ~erewith.
2~ ~ co~idera~ien ~ furnishi~ aid and the use of the ap-
paratus as aforesaid, the party of the secnd part shall receive
the s~ o2 EIR~ S~ ~D~D ($600~ ~llars~per year d~i~
~he period of ibis a~e~nt.

water mains and f~$ish water for fire protection purposes at
the ra~e of Forty (~0) Dollars per year per hydrant for a te~
of five (5) years and that payment for s~e shall begin after-
each hydrant is i~talled and in working order, and the party
of the second part further ~grees that it will extend its water
~ins for the purpose of Furnishing water for fire pro~ection and
will install ten (10~ hydrants per mile, and that said~i~tal_

4. All ~neys ~c be paid under this a~ee~nt shall be a
charge upon lhe said ~ire ~otec~ion District to be assessed and
levied upo~ ~he Taxable property in said District and collected
with the toe taxes and shall he payable
5. Thi~ a~eement shall continue for a period of five (5)
years from the date hereof.

The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor S.
Wentworth Horton, at Greenport, on Tuesday June 4, 1946.
The meeting was called to order a~ 1:30 P.M. with the fo&lowing
present: Supervisor HorroR; Justices Terry, Hawkins and Elipp,
Town Supt. of Highways P~iee; ToE Attorney Terry and Town
01erkBooth.
The Board sat at once as a Co~ttee on Audit to examine claims
against ~he ~ow~o~ncluding ~he audit at 2 P.M. The minutes
of ~he previous meeting were read and duly approved as read,

EESOLVED: Thai the salary of Eloise Bowden, Junior_ S~eno~ra-
-pher in the Town Offices, be placed at $1600. per annum,
effective as of July l, 1946.

WHEREAS: The legal voters of the Mattituck Park District ~h~v-
img legally ~dopted a proposition ~e acquire certain land
said ~istrict for park purposes, am~ having vo~ed ~o borrow
the s~mef $4~ ~o pay therefore, such s~m to be paid
installments by ~he issuing bonds, and the said propositie~
having therefore been approved by this Town Board, and the
commissiGners of said Ma~tiluckPark District having applied
to this Board to authorize ~he Supervisor of Southold Town
to issue a certificate of indebtedness in the sum of
in anticipatiom of the issuing of said bonds,

~he Superintendent of Highways on the proposed increase of
salaries of employees of the Highway Department be approYed
as to the following schedule; ~echanics $!.20 per hr;
Fc~ema~ $1.1~ per hr; Operators $1.00 and $1oi0 per hr;
Laborers ~8~pe~ hr. for a five day week. The increase
is as of Ju~e 1, 1946.
