She said a final report on SEEDS will be made at that time and there will be a sepamte discussion of creating Intermunicipal Agreements. The Five Town Rum! Transit Committee will also present their Proposal for Public Transportation on the East End at that meeting. . Five Towns Rum! Transit Committee: Margaret reported that "East End Shuttle" Development Proposal is nearing completion and will be presented at the December 8 EETC Conference. A brochure describing the Proposal is in its final stages of development and the committee is negotiating with consultants to begin the Feasibility Study. Orient C.auseway Proiect: There is nothing new to report. Scenic Byways Sil:nal:e: This item is still tabled. PrQposed Local Law - No Parkin!: Oaklawn Avenue. Southold: Deputy Town Clerk Lynda M. Bohn asked for this commission to review a proposed Local Law to restrict parking on Oaldawn Avenue in front of the High School to 15 minutes during school hours. The Commission agreed with this proposal. Corey Creek Association ReqJlest: Neb sent a memo to the Deputy Town Clerk stating that the Commission concurs with the request of the Corey Creek Association to have parking signs installed on either side of the entrance to Corey Creek Lane, and recommends that the Highway Department determine the required distances and install said signs. Requestfrom Kenney's Belich Assoo..tion: Neb sent a memo to the Deputy Town Clerk, for the Town Board's approval, stating that, after an extensive discussion, it was decided not to recommend a 20MPH speed limit along Leeton, West, North Sea and Lake Drives. The responsibility for safe driving lies with the residents and if the vegetation encroaching on both sides of the roads limits sight distances, the Town Highway Department may be petitioned to clear the Town rights of way. No Parkin!: Sil:Ds on Milll.ane: A memo dated September 6 was sent to Town aerk Betty Neville by Gerard Borgo requesting that "No Parking" signs be installed for 700 feet on the Northbound side of Mill Lane near Goldsmith's Inlet. Also, the parking lot needs to be repaired and re-striped with parking spaces. Capt. Flatley says that no parking on one side seems fair. Jamie says the lot is scheduled for resurfacing but re-striping is not included at this time. This is not considered an official beach - it has no restrooms or life guards - and is treated more as a road end. The Commission recommends that "No Parking" signs be placed on the West side, and "Parking by Permit Only" be placed on the East side of Mill Lane. Old Business: A public meeting was held by the NYSDOT September 29, 2005 regarding the proposed Bridge Improvement Project on Rte. 25, over the railroad between Southold and Greenport. The DOT presented five scenarios to the 25-30 people in attendance. There were several representatives of the business community present. Jamie sent a letter to Neb and the Police Department with recommendations of what should be done. The community seems to be leaning toward option #3 - building a new bridge to the West along side the existing bridge. This would result in the least disruption in traffic, but DEe approvals are still needed. CVS Pharmacy in Mattituck: Supt. of Highways Pete Harris and Jamie discussed truck tmffic movement on Sigsbee and Marlene Roads. There should be no through truck traffic on either road. Betty Neville, at the behest of the Town Board, asked the State DOT for speed reduction on Rte. 25 at the MattitucklLaurellibmry. The DOT doesn't believe there is a need for reduced speed there. New Busine~s: Capt. Ratley had a request from a patrolman to look into speeding traffic on Sound A venue in Mattituck near Westphalia Should there be a 3-way stop? This will be referred to the Highway Department. Capt. Ratley reported that the clean-up from the tanker spill on Rte. 48 will continue for the next 2 - 4 weeks. Visitor lady Adams expressed her conoem about a cross walk at the MattitucklLaurel Public library. She asked if the police had done a speed check there. Marty will look into this. The next meeting will be Monday November 28, 2005 at 10 AM, Southold Town Hall. Respectfully submitted, Margaret H. Brown
