October 31 Meeting

Members Present: Chairman Neb Brashich, Peter Harris, Jamie Richter,
Ruth Oliver, Amy Ford and under~igned.
Seeds Update:
~ Neb reports that the committee is still working on minor changes by
several municipalities in the Memorandum of Understanding.
Orient Causeway Project Update:
~ Neb reports that the projects is still being held up by the NYS
Department of Environmental Conservation and that a meeting with
this office is currently being planned
Town OrientationlInterpretive Signage Project Update:
~ Neb reports that an agreement has been sent to Albany for approval
and it is expected to take two to three months to gain final approval. It
was also suggested to meet with representatives of Greenport Village
to get their input on any signage that will be within their jurisdiction.
County Route 48 Roundabouts (2) Project Update:
~ Neb reports that Suffolk County did attempt to contact him yesterday
and left a message regarding the roundabouts, he will advise
committee after he converses with same.
Bus Shelters Project Update:
~ Jamie reports that the Town has advised Suffolk County that they are
ready to move ahead on three of the planned bus shelters in Mattituck,
Southold and Peconic, however, the owners of the other sites have been
unwilling to cooperate with permission of such shelters on their
properties.
~ A discussion ensued regarding the traffic this Fall generated by the
local wineries and farmstands.
Management Plan- Long Island North Shore Heritage Area:
~ There is no new information on this topic, Amy advised commission
she will check on.

Five Towns Rural Transit Update:
~ The group has received its $400,000 and is in the process of deciding
who gets the contract.
Old Business:
~ Discussion on the Warex plan (Mattituck Citgo gas station) in
Mattituck. Amy advises that the owners have submitted a new plan
that would broaden their property if they were to purchase same from
the Cardinale family. The Commission decided to take up the matter
again if they actually purchase the property and can move forward
with their proposed new plan.
~ Pete advise the Commission that he spoke with a business owner at
the small complex at County Rt. 48 and Cox Neck Road, Mattituck and
he voiced concerns about the proposed roundabout at this location. The
owner wished to have input in the project as to the entrance and exit
lanes and markings for their complex.
~ The Commission also discussed the proposed light at Rt. 48 and Cox
Neck Road and the traffic lights being knocked down at Depot Lane
and County Rt. 48, Cutchogue.
** The undersigned agreed to have the Police Department send a letter
to the Suffolk County Department of Public Works requesting they
look at the traffic light at County Rt. 48 and Cox's Lane, Cutchogue
again to explore the use of new turning signals for the intersection.
New Business:
~ Rich MacMurray and Stan Micus from Cross Sound Ferry were
present and inquired if the Commission had received any information
from the traffic study being conducted in Town. They were curious as
to if the traffic count for October had been completed as of yet. They
were advised that the Commission had not been provided with any
such information.
~ Pete advised the Commission of drainage problems with a new
subdivision that is being constructed off of Stanley Road, Mattituck.
Jamie advised Pete to put problems in writing and submit to him so he
could have Construction Company address same.
~ The new Japanese Spa project was also discussed briefly by Ruth who
had toured the property and described the poor condition of the
buildings, waterways and drainage.
