HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/27/2006 Southold Transportation Commission Meeting February 27, 2006 Minutes Members in Attendance: Chairman Neboysha Brashich, Frank Field, Ruth Oliva, Sup't Peter Harris, Jamie Richter, Victor L'Eplattenier, Capt. M. Flatley. Meeting called to order at 10 10 hrs. SEEDS Update: . Neb has received the SEEDS document to review. · The selection of two Town Board members to the Political Subcommittee still is pending. February 14 Meeting with the Town Board: (Neb and Jamie were present at this Town Board Meeting) · Town Board discussed the selection to the above subcommittee, but did not decide yet. · The Town bus shelters were discussed (location, costs, aesthetics) and the Board asked the Transportation Committee to further investigate the costs incurred by other East End Towns. A representative of the Southampton Town Board was asked to provide costs and plans for their shelters. · Ruth agreed to review the Stakeholders document as to where bus shelters were addressed. · The roundabout plan submitted by the Suffolk County Dept. of Public Works for the intersection of County Rt. 48 and Cox Neck Road in Mattituck was discussed by the Town Board and they endorsed same as long as the public was able to provide input into the planning discussion. Letter to be sent by Supervisor Russell stating same. Orient Causeway Project: · Still working on Phase I of the project · Jamie gave progress report which included monetary options of trenching the lines on either the west side or the east side of the Dam Pond Bridge. Town Signage Proposal: · A discussion of the consolidation of the signage ( destination signs) throughout the Town was discussed by members. .. Southold Transportation Commission Meeting (Cont'd) Five Towns Rural Transit Committee (5TRT) Update: . 5TRT is looking for a Federal grant to conduct a feasibility study. Soutbampton Town has agreed to be the sponsoring Town with tbe condition that the other four East End Towns support tbe study financially and in a written document. This resolution will be on tbe next Town Board meeting agenda. Rt. 25 LIRR Bridge: . Jamie reports tbat Alternate 3 has been selected as tbe design plan for this project, (which was the plan supported by the Transportation Committee). . Construction is slated to be conducted in 2007 and should take 8-10 montbs in duration. Old Business: . A question arose as to tbe reason for the construction barrels being in tbe roadway on Factory Ave. near Rt. 25 in Mattituck. Jamie explained that they are there temporarily until the weather permits the resurfacing of the roadway in this area. (Part of the CVS site work plan). Next meeting is March 27, 2006 at 1000 hrs.
