Greenport Rq>resentative: Welcome to Theresa Taylor as the Greenport Village Transportation Representative. Town Orientation/lnter:pretive Signage Project Update: The project has been signed and is underway. RBA will need a priority list from the Stakeholders of signs and sites. The project will take three months. Someone from Southold is needed to advise on signs there. Parking Problem in Greenport: The Commission recommends a "No Parking" sign on either side of Champlin Place in Greenport for 150 feet. A memo was sent to NYSDOT to that effect on November 22. North Fork Beach Condominium Request: There is concern for traffic crossing Rte. 48 into the condominium. Neb and Jamie met with engineers about whether striping can be added. County Road 48 Roundabout and Soundview Site Updates: No word yet on roundabouts or the Soundview site plan. Neb has received no response from the County on the September 28 letter he sent. He reminded them that the Town must be involved in any discussion about the solution to these problems. Neb will call Bill Hillman. SEEDS Update and Bike Trails: The regular meeting of EETC in Riverhead was attended by Neb and Tom Wickham. There were two aspects. First, increased hamlet density requires some solution to water and sewer needs. One solution would be to build a sewer system for an entire village or hamlet. Secondly, the DOT representative reported that Region 10 has decided that they will not have bicycle lanes. Since the towns and municipalities have said they don't want more signs, there is the possibility of using the existing lanes but educating the public on how to use them and place signage only in the roadbed. This would eliminate the need for more upright signs. The DOT said that until the towns figure out what they want to do, they are shelving the issue. EETC will try to work on this. Moore's Woods Proposal: Neb received a call from Mike Osinski saying that Greenport Village is interested in bike trails through Moore's Woods. There may be funding available from the County or even the Federal Govt. Orient Causeway Project Status Rq>art: There is still a question whether remaining funding can be used for work on the causeway. Engineers are in the preliminary stages of looking at pedestrian and kayak use. Five Town Rural Transit Update: Margaret reported that the feasibility stndy is getting underway and information regarding local traffic and transportation will be gathered from all the towns. Warex PrQject in Mattituck: Neb sent a memo to Amy Thiel, Senior Planner regarding the Warex Project in Mattituck stating that the Commission approves the revised proposal but requesting that the scenic quality of the site be maintained, since Rte. 25 is a designated scenic byway. Heritage at Cutchogue: Neb reported that Bob Bittner, Postmaster in Cutchogue, is concerned about traffic and mail trucks on Griffing Street. Neb responded with a letter that we will review the whole area, including a stop light in conjunction with the Heritage Project. Old Business: Bus Shelters: David Bauer reported that Greenport is now interested in obtaining bus shelters on Adams and First Streets. Neb sent him pictures of what is available, and alerted EETC of this interest. New Business: There is going to be a new route plan at the.transfer station in Peconic (the dump). Bruno wants to know if the Commission is interested in its design. He will make copies of the proposal for it. We are concerned with entrances and exits. The next meeting will be January 28, 2008 at 10 AM, Southold Town Hall. Respectfully submitted, Margaret H. Brown
