M. GREENWALD Qualified in Suffolk Coun~ _ Commission ~pires June 9, S~stum b'~ A~01icani ' July 18, 2007 To: Building Department From: James A. Marx, Jr. P.E. I have verified the adequacy and structural integrity of the existing roof truss for mounting of Sharp solar panels and their installation will satisfy the structural roof framing design-loading requirements of the New York State Residential Code - without the need for adding reinforcing to the existing truss beams. For the installation of the solar mounting, the mounting rails will be supported by standoffs and the structural plan drawings show the designed staggered anchorage pattern for the mounting rail rows. The Photovoltaic system and the mounting assembly shown on the submitted drawings complies with the applicable sections of building code - "Solar Systems" and requirements of roof-mounted collectors, roof penetrations, as well as applied loading conditions that will satisfy the building code requirements. Thereby, I endorse the solar panel installation and certify this design for mounting the solar mounting assembly onto the ~ rafter beams to be structurally adequate. Sincerely, James A. "'Ac [wi SMA's new 3800 watt inverter processes solar energy at an unparalleled 95.6% efficiency and is the first of a new generation of inverters by SMA to be released in America. These new inverters incorporate a cast aluminum housing used to separate the control and power elec- tronics. This new chassis design is incredibly rugged, lighhveight and weatherproof. The power electronics compartment integrates SMA's new Opticoolt~ airflow technology where cool air is drawn in through lhe bottom of the enclosure by convection, drawn around the power electronics where the air absorbs heat and is then released through a side vent. When required, this process is assisted by a temperature controlled fan. The built in meter displays system status as well as the solar energy being produced by the power plant and other key infor- mation on the LCD screen. Several meter and software options are available from your SMA supplier. For added convenience, the SB3800U now comes complete with a DC disconnect with an integrated 4 string combiner. The DC switch is rated for load-break with provision for lockout. 4 string fuses mounted in individual fuse holders provide string overcurrent protection and assist is string trouble-shooting. The DC disconnect enclosure contains 1/2, 3/4 and 1, knockouts for ease of installation. High Efficiency SANYO HIT solar panels are a leader in cell and module efficiency. V~h models up to 16.2 Wa[ts per sq. foot (17.4% module efficiency) you obtain maximum power within a fixed amount of space. You save costs by using fewer support materials and less time instatling. The powerful panels are ideal for grid-connected solar systems, areas with performance based incentives, and renewable energy credits. Temperature Attributes As temperatures dse, SANYO HIT solar panels produce more electricity (kWh) than conventional crystalline silicon solar panels al the same temperature. Unique Structure SANYO HIT solar panels have a black anodized aluminum, double-wall frame for extra strength. The panels come pre-equipped with a touch-safe junction box, lead wires, MCTM plug-n-play connectors, and unique mounting rails, all of which help to minimize SOS support structure materials, installation time and costs.
