HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-07/29/1952MEETING 0E JULY 29, 1952 The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor ~orman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, July 29, 1952. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following pre~ent: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and ~lark, Town Superintendent of Highways Price; Town Attorney Terry an~ Town Clerk Booth. Moved by Sustice Clark; seconded by ~ustice Albertson: RESOLVED: That the m~nutes of the previous meeting be and hereby are duly approved as read. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson And Clark. Stanley Corwin Esq. and Edwin S. Conklin, Building Inspector for the Town of Southold appeared before the Board. Lawyer Corwin spoke in detail relative to the Multiple Resident Law. At 2 o'clock P. M. in, accordance with a notice published according to law, seale~ proposals were opened for furnishing the ~ownof Southold one oil burning circulating hot water heating plant, to be installed in the Town Clerk's Building. OO The Supervisor appointed Justice Clark and eustice Albertson, assisted by Town Attorney Terry, Exofficio, as a committee, instructed to examine the bids and report back to the Board a recommendation of the lowest bidder. The committee reported that the lowest bidder was Carlson and Marsales. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded By Justice Terry: BE IT RESOLVED: That this Board does hereby find and determine that the proposal of Carlson and Marsales to furnish the Town of Southold one complete oil burning circulating hot water heating plant, to be installed in the Town Clerk's Building in accordance with the spec- ifica~ions, therefore is the lowest responsible proposal for said heating plant, and be it further RESOLVED: That the said proposal of Carlson and Marsales in the sum of $2105.00~ be and the same is hereby accepted~ and be it~further RESOLVED.' That ~orman E. Klipp, Supervisor, be and hereby is author- ized to enter iHto an agreement with the said CarlsOn and Marsales for the installation of said heating plant in accordance with the aforesaid spedifications and at the price mentioned in said proposal. Moved by ~ustice Al~ertson; seconded by Justice Clark: RESOLVED:~That the regular monthly audit meeting of th~s Board be held at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport, on Tuesday, August 12, 1952 at 1:30 P. M. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded By Justice Tuthill: RESOL~D: That William LaValle of Southold, New York, be and hereby is appointed a Li~e Guard, to serve in such capacity at the Southold Town Bathing Beach, and be it further RESOLVED: That William LaVelle be compensated for such position in the amount of Thirty-five Dollars ($35.00) per week~ payable in reg- ular monthly payments, and be it ~urther RESOLVED: That this appointment take effect as of ~uly lO, 1952. Vote of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill, Albertson and Clark. Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by Justice Albertson: RESOLVED: That William Y. Terry~ Jr., be and hereby is appointed a Special Constable to direct traffic in front of the Congregational Church on ~oute 25 in Orient, on Sundays from 10:~ A.M. t~ ~2 Noon~ from July I to September 1%, 1952. A petition was received signed by 28 residents residing within a 25 mile radius of Plum island opposing the method and way the meeting was called and held on ~uly 17th in the Greenport High SchoOl, in reference to the laboratory for combating foot and mouth disease~ requesting that before any further action is taken that a public hearing be held and conducted by Township Officials so that a correct poll of residents in this area can be obtained on this matter, it was laid on the table for future consideration. A petition was received from residents of Founders Path~ Southold, requesting the Town Board to have signs erected on said Founders Path, restricting speed limit to 25 M.P.H. The Superintendent of Highways was directed to erect the above mentioned signs. Adjournment was at ~:~0 P. M. Ralph P. Booth TQwn Clerk ~ETING OF AUGUST 7, 19~2 A speciaI meeting of~he Southold Town Board was held at ~he office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Th~trsday~ August ~ 19~2. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the follow- ing present: Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill and Albertson; Town Attorney Terry and Town Clerk Booth. The purpose of this meeting was to act on the order establishing the Fishers island Refuse and Garbage District. Moved by ~ustice Tuthill;seconded by Justice Terry: BEFORE THE TOWN BOARD OF ~HE TOWN'0F SOUTHOLD, SUFFOLK COUNTY~ NEW YORK. **************************************** In the M~tter of The establishment of the ~ishers Island Refuse and Garbage District in the Town of Southold~ County of Suffolk~ New York. * * * *ORDER ESTABLISHING DISTRICT A petition in this matter for the creation of a refuse and garbage district having been duly presented to the Town Board, and an order having been duly adopted by the Town Board on March llth, 19Y2~ for the hearing of all persons interested intthe matter on the ~th day of April~ 19~2, at 9:30 o'clock in the forenoon of that day at the Fishers Island. Schoolhouse at Fishers ~sland~ N. ew York~ and a hearing by the ~aid Board having been duly held at such time and place, and it having been duly resolved and determined following such hearing that the petition herein was signed and acknowledged or proved as required by law an~ otherwise sufficient~ that ali the property and property owners within the proposed district were benefited thereby~ that all property and property owners benefited were included within the limits of the proposed distric2~ and that it was in public interest to ~rant in whole the relief sought~ and it having been then and the~e further duly resolved that the establishment of such dms~_mct as proposed be approved~ and application having been thereafter and on April 12th, 1952, duly made in dup$icate to the State Department of Audit and Control at Albany, New York, for per- mission to crea2e such district as m ore fully provided for by Town Law, Section 194~ and the State Comptroller having duly made an order ~in duplicate, dated August 4th, 19~2, granting permission for the creation of the district in all respects as petitioned for and approved by the Town Board as aforesaid; and one copy of such order having been duly filed in the office of the State Department' of Audit and Control at Albany~ New York, and the other in the office of the Town Cler$ of this Town, and the Town Clerk having duly presented such order to this Board at this meeting~ being its first meeting held after the said order was file~ with him; it is hereby ORDERED~ that a refuse and garbage district be established in the said Town of Southold~ Suffolk County, New York~ as described in the order of the State Comptroller aforesaid~ to be designated as the Fishers ±sland Refuse and Garbage District of the Town of Southo!d and to be of the following description and boundaries~ to wit: - All the real property of Fishers ~sland~ in the Town of S6uth- old~ County of Suffolk and State of New ~kk~ inclusive of the whole of Fishers Island: with the exception of certaim parcels which are the~property of the United States Government~ said tracts being known as "Fort H. G. Wright"~ "Mount Prospect"~ "Wilderness Point" and "Coast Guard Station No. 59"~ all as shown on Map accompanying p · the petition: said territory being bounded and described as _ollows. On the North by FSshers Sound; on the east by Block Island Sound; on thee South by Block ~sland Sound and U. S. Government Reservations; on the West by Fort H. G. Wright~ U. S.
